We ditched our previous cable provider and switched to Roku...Best. Move. Ever. I now watch the programs I want (don't have to worry about setting the DVR) and don't have to pay for channels I never used.

Slow interface

I upgraded from the roku 2 and have found no noticeable difference. I was disappointed in the speed in which the roku 2 took in order to load the media. The roku 3 has noticeable improvement in speed. The Netflix app is especially slow to get from one episode to the next in any series. Hope to see a fast roku 4 soon. Thank you

Good product simple to use but the bare bones interface on netflix and the usb media player lg bar behind those of competitors like appl etv xbox 360 apple tv wd tv. navigating through tv hops episodes can be a chore

Changed a lifetime's viewing habit

Instead of sitting down and saying 'Let's see what's on now' we now sit down and say 'What do you want to watch?'. If you subscribe to Hulu Plus or Netflix you have hundreds of thousands of shows that you can watch on demand and there are free channels as well. The interface is simple. You can search across multiple channels. Were saving close to $1000 a year over cable. The only thing I miss is sports. There's a gap there that I hope will be filled soon. This is the future of TV.

Great Product but Could Be Better

I use the product a lot mostly to listen to music using such streaming applications as TuneIn Radio, Pandora, etc. I do wish there was DLNA support that would make it easier to stream media from my network attached storage drives. Currently I use a cumbersome process of using my tablet with Twonky to stream from my network drives to my Roku. Videos from various sources such as Netflix and Amazon are smooth and high quality. Audio does cut out however if I turn off my monitor or switch it to my laptop. This occurs even with using the audio jack on the remote. It would be nice to be able to listen to music while working with my laptop but not using my laptop to stream the music. Overall, however, Roku has been the best product I have found for streaming media content in both quality and its wide variety of selections. I also like the way one can add or delete applications (channels in Roku terms) to tailor to one's specific desires.
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup, Improved Audio/Video, Smooth Operation, Attractive Design
Cons: NO DLNA support, Audio Shuts Off

Best alternative to Cable or Satellite !

We use this at home and when we travel. Easy to move to our main entertainment room or our bedroom. Even though Roku offers the most channel selections and we were able to download an adult app, I would like to see more app selections and better navigation in some of them like The Underground weather app is great, just wished we could zoom on radar map...
