I have a Roku 1 and a Roku 3 , I thought Roku 1 could not be any better, then I got Roku 3,Faster to load, better search capabilities and with over 700 channels that is very important.I have it connected through HDMI to my surround then to my projector. The Roku does the 5.1 Dolby and fill my screen with 1080p.I do not know how they do it but it is clear enough to see the hair in Ward Clevers ears on a black and white Leave It To Beaver. I have a device to connect my computer to my same system,paid the same price also, it works ,but that is about it,grainy,pixelated,voice out of sync with picture,it is no ROKU 3. For my Blond wife everyday is her first day when it comes to electronics and remote controls,not with the Roku remote and on screen controls, I showed her once and she had it ,first time in 38 years,this must be the user friendly I have heard so much about but have never seen before now.I have discontinued all other services after having ROKU for 3 weeks because we did not use them anymore. It is like having 50 semi loads of DVD's parked at the back door.Never a day goes by that we don't say We hope somebody,somewhere don't screw this up.

For what it's designed to do, it's a great little device. I have had no trouble streaming from Internet sites and the like. It's very light, but just heavy enough at the base not to fly around. Connections are fairly easy to setup., Although I do wish the network access lights would be relocated to the front of the device.
Pros: Correct Weight And Size, Fast Setup, Attractive Design
Cons: Needs Full Keyboard, Needs Youtube Channel, Drm Enforced Unnecesarily, Needs Mpeg2 Codecs

Phenomenal little box of tricks. Outstanding HD performance and audio quality (routed through AV receiver) and a cinch to set up. Took minutes. Hundreds of extra channels over-and-above the previous Rokus (although I default to a handful of "channels of excellence" such as Amazon and Pandora). Prime users of Amazon get thousands of free HD movies (and thousands more pay-per-use). Integrates seamlessly with Amazon account via any device. When Amazon can't provide (unusual, given the size of its ever-increasing catalogue of movies and TV series), VUDU is available (another on-demand HD movie service with extensive catalogue) as well a HULU. Netflix is also available althugh Netflix has a limited non-HD catalogue. I've watched the first 4 seasons of Breaking Bad with my Roku 3 (as well as Homeland and many others). I rarely use my satellite TV service anymore. I've reduced it to just one box (to maintain news channels). I never use it for anything else since I've had my Roku 3. (I prefer to watch TV shows on-demand and commercial free). Love having my own "geared for me" radio stations on Pandora that can play though my AV receiver as a virtually-commercial free station when I'm not watching TV. One of the 3's best features is a headphone socket on its remote control. Perfect for late night viewing when you don't want to wake up the rest of the house. Aside from the occasional (but no less annoying) freezing of the device causing the need for a reset, this little box of tricks is the best $100 I've spent in a long time.

I mostly use this product for Amazon Prime. I absolutely love the headphone jack on the side of the controller!

The content made available is vast and that is good. But Roku's value add over simple pc or iPad streaming is that it provides some organization and search utilities that make it easier to use, especially for the non-technical user.

Personal enjoyment at home. I can always find something wonderful to watch which I couldn't with satellite TV. No monthly bills to control our lives and feel like we have to pay for the use of our own TV.
