Small Box, Large Potential!

I bought this to use my Netflix account for and it's been incredible! I like the speed and ease of it and the variety of channels. I've been recommending it to all of my friends!

I just love the Roku 3. It's just incredible. The amount of content is unbelievable. Seems like there is new content coming out all the time. The search feature is just incredible also. Search an actor or movie, and, it'll show you what content is available. Just highlight it and play. Video quality is impressive also. The new and improved interface is fast an easy to navigate. If you have content on your PC, you can stream that also with the Plex app. You can view content from the usb port too. There's not much this device can't do. You can play games too. For $99 how can you beat that. Love it so much, I bought a second one to use in the bedroom. I have the Apple TV too. But, the Roku is just so much more flexible and has just so much more free content, it's the better device. The only negative I can think of, is YouTube is not available. Apple TV does have that. If Roku had YouTube, there would not be another device that could come close to it. If you are thinking of getting a Roku, don't hesitate, buy this now.

We use to mainly to watch movies just wish more were up to date the up to date movies are very old. The new movies or shows that are good want subscriptions.

Roku 3 Great But Restarts Required

I use Roku 3 to watch movies from Netflix and other streaming sources on my living room TV. The best Roku feature is its general search of all channels to find those that have a particular movie or show that I'm looking for. Roku lists the channels and the prices for rental or purchase. I have been frustrated by the need to restart Roku frequently because it hangs up at startup. It doesn't respond to the controller. So I have to pull its power cord, wait about 10 seconds, and repower. This sequence usually causes it to work okay. Sometimes I also have to pull the batteries out of the controller and reinsert them to get the controller recognized. (I have replaced the batteries, and have a battery meter, so I know the batteries are good.) I would greatly appreciate help from Roku with this problem. Even with the restart/controller problem above, the Roku is worthwhile to me and better than connecting my PC or tablet to the TV. I have recommended the Roku 3 to my son and others.

The Roku is fabulous, but you must have a good router for streaming video. If your router is too far away from roku, you either have to get a better router or buy a booster. I hsve no problem with the router Time Warner provides But be sure you get the best router they provie. Don't get the all in oon, router and modem. You will love Roku, it is a wonderful product.

I had the original Roku, and it was good enough. I resisted getting a new player, despite Roku's many attempts to get me to upgrade, mainly because I'm so cheap. Then they came out with the PBS channel, which was unavailable to my old Roku, so I bit the bullet. It's well worth it. My favorite part is the headphone jack. Our TV is in the room next to our bedroom, and I stay up watching after my wife goes to bed. Now I can have adequate volume without disturbing her. The new player is faster and has more memory, too.

As I said earlier, it locks up now and then, but unplugging it for a few seconds corrects the problem. I use a Roku in the livingroom and bedroom and use it more than my satellite service.
