I have cancelled my cable TV and I use my Roku box exclusively to watch shows on Netflix and Amazon. I love how easy the box is to use. The controls are simple and clear No fighting to figure out which one 93 buttons you need to press to get to your show. The selection of channels available is great and it even includes a few games. This is my 3rd streaming video box and by far my favorite.
Pros: Easy to use, Simple Controls, Good selection of channel, Fast Setup, Attractive Design, Improved Audio/Video
Cons: No Speech Enabled Menus, Not Blind Accessible

When they thought of how to use this - they thought correctly. ROKU manufacturers thought of the consumer in mind when they made this product. Hats off to you guys - you hit a grand slam!

The Best Roku Yet!

The Roku3 is fast when fast forwarding or reversing movies shows etc. It is capable of SuperHD with a fast Internet connection. The USB port is great for home movies or photo slide shows. The remote has a headphone port for private listening. I can stream music from my computer or portable device seamlessly. I use a free third party app that allows me to watch a certain tube site content on my tv through the Roku3, to me that's worth the price right there. The benefits go on, but not enough room here. Great product!
Best overall media player currently available. An almost.unbelievable low price for such an elegant performer.
Pros: Adapts To Stream Speeds, Headphone Jack Brilliant, Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Improved Audio/Video, Fast Setup, My 86 Yo Mom Has Three, Plays Most Media Formats
Cons: Requires Computer, 3rd Party Server Required
I would recommend this to a friend!

After several different media centers...
on July 26, 2013

First off, my history with media centers is varied. I first started with a hacked original Xbox running XBMC. Then moved to a windows PC running media center. Then went back to a small form factor PC running Boxee, then XBMC. I generally kept it hooked up to a router, and used local storage and later used external HDD. In an effort to simplify everything I started researching a different route. With the proliferation of Smart TV's, ones that have the Plex app. I thought to myself "I'll just stream data to my tv through its Plex app". But in reading review after review I realized that smart TV's just don't function as well as a dedicated box like a Roku, they are generally slugish, un responsive, and have poor support. So here is my newest setup. I have a personal cloud system at home. I use a Drobo 5N that is networked directly to my Router. I then use the Plex app on the Roku to stream all my movies, TV shows, and music. The beautiful thing is I can watch a movie on my iPad, pause it, then resume exactly where I left off on the TV with Roku. Thats the beauty of having a networked drive like the Drobo 5N. The reasons why I chose the Roku over a dedicated smart TV is because the Roku is simply much faster. The UI is clean and snappy. Roku is always on, its super small (I have mine attached to the back of my wall mounted 60 inch plasma, you can't even see it). Because I have mine hidden, it feels as integrated to my TV as can be. I love the super simple remote control, finally something my girlfriend isn't intimidated to use. The Wifi direct controller is wonderful, its super responsive, and I don't need to point it at anything for the buttons to register. There are a few cons to the device. The biggest being the user interface of the channels. Every channel looks different from one another. I would prefer a more unified interface. The Hulu app is probably the best looking one. The Plex app has some issues with the design as well. No grid interface means having to scroll through all your movies before getting to the one you want. Netflix and Amazon also have the same issue with their apps. If users had the option to customize the layout, this would solve everything, this is the first media center I've tried that hasn't given users the option to change the layout in some way. The last issue I have is the games. Its really unnecessary. Nobody is going to want to play games on this thing. And I would rather see the A and B button removed for a simpler controller design. It just seems like a marketing tool to get people to see the value in the Roku 3 over its predecessors. But dual band wireless N is all you need. That IS the upgrade, and its very worth it. I've never had a connection drop, everything is super stable.
Pros: Size, Fast Setup, Simple Controls, Improved Audio/Video, Attractive Design
