I love my Roku..... easy to use EXCEPT I have to unplug and then plug it in again if i have not used it even for a few hours! Somewhat of an inconvenience as I like my electronics always at the ready but when compared to the enjoyment my Roku gives me it is indeed a minor inconvenience. I wish the replacement remotes were available at retail stores because my dog really did eat mine and i had to order one which means at least 5 days without my Roku! Argggghh!
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy setup, Simple Controls, Fast Setup, Great selection

Roku + Plex = Phenomenal

To be honest, I resisted Roku for a long while. While the streaming services and choices offered by Roku are unparalleled, the earlier versions were not the best choice for folks with a large collection of local content. That all changed with Roku 3 and with the Plex app. In case you don't know what Plex is, please allow me to explain. First off, installing the Plex app on your Roku, in and of itself does nothing for you by itself. You must also install a Plex Server program on a local computer in your house. Don't let the word server scare you. It isn't any more difficult than downloading any other FREE software on your computer. Once you do, you point it at the folders where your media (music, movies, tv shows, home movies, videos, whatever) is stored and let it do it's thing. As long as you keep those folders organized and follow the naming conventions you are good to go. Now, you can view all of that local content on any TV in the house (or anywhere with an internet connection but that is a Plex review and so I won't go into it). Roku added some really important features (to me) to the Roku 3. First and foremost, an ethernet connection. I live in a 100 year old house with most walls still plaster. That means Wi-Fi can be problematic for me. I need a wired connection. Second, a Bluetooth remote. This may have been in some earlier versions, I don't know, I didn't own them. I know on some earlier models it was infrared. Bluetooth is better; trust me. Third, the remote again, they added the headphone jack and even give you a set of ear buds. This is a very clever way to handle one person wanting to sleep (or be noisy) while the other watches TV. Plug in the headphones and it mutes the TV. Volume rocker on the side that just controls the headphones. I had a pair of Bluetooth headphones that I probably paid more for than the Roku that haven't been used since I plugged in the Roku. The sweet little purple earbuds get used almost nightly though. My only complaint, and it may yet become more of a compliment is the user interface within Plex. The Plex interface is gorgeous on a computer or some other players. The Roku interface is great, but not as beautiful by a long shot. I understand that Roku recently opened up their API to app developers and so Plex is working on a new interface for it. I know that many people would want a consistent look and feel from app (channel) to app, but I want Plex to look like Plex. We will see how much Roku let's the Plex developers have free reign. The fact that Roku seems to be a big supporter of Plex (and vice versa) makes me very optimistic of things to come. I know this sounds like a minor plot point if you aren't familiar with the Plex interface (or XBMC on which Plex is based) but If you are, you know what I'm saying. I understand that the processor is faster and the Wi-Fi is better on the Roku 3 than earlier versions, but since I didn't own them I can't comment. I will say, the playback is perfect and the menus are plenty snappy so I have no complaints. In its current location, it will actually play videos over WiFi, but there is some buffering for me. It does better on Wi-Fi than my laptop sitting next to it so I know it isn't the Roku's fault. Oh yeah, and it offers more internet content/apps/channels/games than any other player I know of. Overall score, 4.75 Stars. I'll give a perfect score with the Plex interface on Plex. This was my first Roku but it won't be my last. I'll replace the players in the kid's rooms eventually but there is this whole recession thing still going on so it may have to wait until a birthday rolls around or my ship comes in. Don't get me wrong, the price is very reasonable for what you get - We're just not the Rockefeller's. Heck, I'd wouldn't even hesitate to give one to my technically challenged parents, but I'd need to set up the backend of Plex for them. The rest is as easy as pie. In short, don't hesitate to buy one and once you do, check out Plex. After you do that, take a long hard look at that monthly cable bill because it can definitely be reduced if not eliminated.

I rarely write product reviews, but Roku is definately the best among its competitors. It is very easy to use and does not limit your channel selections. New channels are regularly coming on line in every category. It has tons of free movie channels and plenty of choices for the kids. We cut the cord on the cable box simply because we spend more time watching Roku Channels. We do have paid subscriptions to some of the channels but it is a mere fraction of the cost over cable. Kudos to the brilliant folks at Roku for developing this awesome product. My family loves it. I highly recommend Roku to anyone and give it 5 stars!
Pros: Got Rid Of My Cable, Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Improved Audio/Video, Hundreds Of Free Channels, Fast Setup

I like how easy it is to use and the programming available to me. The specials offered are good and I'd like to see more of them. I like the update done recently, it's more user friendly for finding the channel you're looking for. Things I would like to see in future: -I would like to see a remote that works with my tv and roku. -Cable news networks that stream live like Fox and local channels so I can get rid of cable altogether. -Youtube
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Improved Audio/Video, Simple Controls

Replaced my cable box and paid for itself in less than a month. Why bother with the cable company when 99% of the content is pure garbage? Get a Roku box and pay for only the content you care about using anyone of the numerous providers who've implemented streaming services as a Roku channel.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Quality Software, Simple Controls

I use it for the MLB TV Baseball. it saves me money over Directv Extra innings. I like the overall search for movies. ( again it is better that directv movie packages. I can watch it when I want.) Not so great: My DSL evidently is not fast enough, and I get the baseball in 720 instead of 1080 and some times, it takes time for " loading "
Pros: Attractive Design, Great New Features, Improved Audio/Video, Fast Setup, Simple Controls
