Nice upgrade but buy a battery charger.

The picture is noticeably better and the processor is much faster. As far as I can tell, the operating system is exactly the same, as is the content (except the games, which seem stupid). The main difference is the remote. I like the remote but it definitely should have been designed better. I use two Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries that hold a 2500 mAH charge each (this is a lot of power) and keep two more charged and have to change them out every two or three days. This isn't that much of a hassle but seriously, the device should have come with a rechargeable battery. The headphone jack is nice and when paired with good pair of headphones have outstanding sound quality. The included earbuds don't sound very well. The device should have Bluetooth. Overall, this is an outstanding device with a great picture and outstanding sound quality, but factor into the price the cost of a good quality battery charger and 4 high capacity batteries, and a quality pair of headphones.

I first bought a Roku about 3 years ago. This new device is SO fast in comparison! I love to be able to use my phone to type in searches and to be able to use phone as a remote. Very happy I can stream my dropbox and picasa image files.
Pros: Search Feature, Fast Setup, Roku App On Android, Attractive Design, Simple Controls
Cons: Can't See My Tv As 120 Hz

Remote control makes it great

The remote control is perfect for use. Since it uses bluetooth instead of IR, the tiny box can be hidden away out of sight. The battery still seems to last forever though.

Battery life in remote is limited, cuz remote stays on? The earpuds in the remote definitely! I can go to the bathroom and not miss a second of dialogue, LOL! Easy remote features that make sense. The box is small which is good, it gets really warm, which isn't good. When I am bored its great to check out the plethora of apps / programs. Unfortunately, I have to log-on to my computer to register and some have fees and want CC informatino to register to 'TRY OUT' for 'FREE'.
Pros: Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Easy Remote Features, Fast Setup
Cons: 1st Setup Needs Computer

I like the Roku better than some things my friends have, e.g., WII. We use it for Netflix, not much for anything else. Hence the device is only as good as what Netflix has available--and the ease in which it accesses Netflix. In that respect we miss the Netflix button of our previous Roku. But the devices have gotten easier to use and function well for our purposes. Originally I had problems with the setup--the online info was confusing--but that has been corrected.

I enjoy this product because it is just like the Roku 2 XS but only in a slimmer and slicker design! :) Both have similar features, but the Roku 3 has a few new features not present in Roku 2 XS: 1) External earphone jack for enjoyable self-listening entertainment 2) Product updates may be available that other Roku products may not be able due to outdated product(s) 3) It's a fun device as opposed to watching regular TV cable. Most other channels vary based on both Internet TV online content and/or prices vary (between free, monthly fees, and/or recurring fees). As compared to other hardware online TV products, like Boxee, Google TV, etc... this one outperforms the rest of the "online TV" family!

Even better than the original... mostly

Had an original Roku that I really liked. Upgraded to the Roku 3 and mostly works even better. However the menu display on the Roku 3 gets messed up once in a while and the device freezes more often than the original. A restart fixes both of these problems and they happen infrequently enough to be only a minor annoyance but often enough that I can't give it a 5 out of 5.

Cons: Sometimes needs reboot
