Content, content, content. I realize most of this isn't under your control, but the lack of content (sports, Hulu can't get web content, no real-time news) is all VERY frustrating and the reason why people hang onto cable. Watch out for Chromecast -- it's cheap and you're able to display whatever content you want from the web -- THAT is a threat.
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup, Attractive Design
Cons: Just Reboots At Times

More reasons to stay home and watch TV

I love the roku. I used to own the original western digital live box and it was great for awhile but soon became outdated. The roku is perfect for me; I can watch Netflix, rent Vudu movies, stream every single season of every original series HBO ever produced on HBOGO (seriously, the DVD box sets for all of those shows would probably around $5000) and listen to music with spotify and pandora. Setup was super easy. The fact that it doesn't have an off button was a little puzzling at first but I get that it doesn't use a lot of power and this way the most current updates will always be automatically downloaded. I really can't say enough good things about the Roku. I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase and recommend it to everyone I know. Thanks for making a great product that is well worth the reasonable price.

Great things DO come in little packages

This is my 5th Roku i had the first gen hen HD putting them in all rooms with TV and gifting the older models as I upgrade. This little gizmo brings untold accesstomovies TV shows classic and specialized content games on and on. It's ease of use is awesome.. Basically a plug n play with your need being only to power it up connected to a TV and putting in the wifi modem I'd. They list hundreds of channels you can connect to many free but some pay like netflix(7.99 a month) Hulu amazon .. I have played with apples air etc and no comparison. I give kudos for roku fog ingenuity and coming up each year with better models and its proven by vendors adding content. There are also private websites you can go to for added mild to wild content. A good investment for entertainment galore. Enjoy...i have been for3 years.

Excellent Device To Get Away From Cable

I am wanting to stop paying high bills for television. We are planning to move to the internet for most of our premium TV and over the air for the local channels. We are using the provided channels by the Roku as well as Netflix and Amazon Prime. It is providing more viewing options than we will be able to use. It is very easy to set up both the hardware and the account online. We had had no problems with the unit. I like the compact size, too. The searching functions work better than I expected as well. They have put a lot of programming in a very simple to use controler. No real negatives. I expected some problems, but there have not been any. I have recommended this unit to some of my friends recently, and they were excited to give it a try.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Set Up Device, Simple Controls
Cons: No real cons

Doesn' t do what I expected

I have Uverse access on my computer because ATT is my internet provider. I watch ESPN3 on the computer through Uverse but I can't access the Uverse using the Roku to watch on the TV instead of the monitor. This was the main reason for the purchase.

When batteries die in remote and you are using headphones, the volume will then play out loud even though headphones are plugged into the remote.
Pros: Great Variety Of Shows, Fast Setup, Keeps Kids Busy, Simple Controls, Attractive Design

I dropped T/W and its $100+ fees. I can now watch Fraizer reruns for $8, plus much more. Takes a little cable withdrawl, but with antenna and Roku there is little pain. If you are a sports freek, you may have to spend a little more time in a sports bar.

We had a Roku2 and lightning blew it so we upgraded to Roku3 and love it with an easy set up and pictures more clear and faster streaming although the head phones started having some interference and crackling but the Roku3 is well worth $99 and would recommend this to anyone. I would recommend getting a surge protector for your devices.
