I have 4 of these and they are awesome, I'm a very happy customer and suggest if you're even thinking about getting the Roku, you should get it. It is cheap, awesome, and easy to use.
Pros: It Does Everything, Improved Audio/Video, Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Simple Controls

I bought the Roku 3 because I was going to be away from my home for a couple of months and I wanted one while I traveled. Roku is how our family watches most of our TV. We have 2 at home and now a third. They're inexpensive and there's really no need for cable!

My son uses his Playstation 3 or Xbox, that are a real pain in the neck. This Roku 3 takes all the pain and suffering out of things, and is easy to use, as well as works good. Wifi connection can not be beat. My Wifi transmitter is one end of the house on first floor and where I use the Roku 3 is on the Second floor the other end of the house. (3200 SQ foot house.) I am 70 and very hard of hearing. Get lots of complaints about having TV too loud. With the Audio Head Set that comes with the Roku 3 I can turn things as loud as I like. I used my High End Ear Buds at first, then tried the ear buds that came with the Roku 3, that worked even better. Highly recommended.

I have been a fan of ROKU since it began being marketed! I have had ROKU 1, 2, and now, 3. I have also given them as gifts ... people love them. Since I purchased my first ROKU box, I have saved over $5,000 in cable fees!! I no longer have cable, except for internet. I promise you will love it and its user friendliness. ROKU fits with the HDMI programming perfectly.

No more cable bill!

I received a Roku 3 for Christmas last year and loved it so much I had to get another one because I was tired of moving it from room to room. I used to use my Playstation 3 for connectivity to the internet for Pandora and Netflix but hated the constant signing in process and had trouble with Pandora stopping after an hour. With Roku I can go directly to my accounts and can run Pandora all day and night without it shutting itself down. It has plenty of options if I want to pay for entertainment at a fraction of what cable costs. I love it!

Significant advance over original Roku 1

I'm a long-term cord-cutter who upgraded to the ROKU 3 from a first-gen ROKU, so the performance differences are dramatic. Both boxes occasionally need to be rebooted, but the ROKU 3 far less often. The upgrade would be justified by adaptive bitrate streaming and the SD card slot alone, but the USB port and overall improved performance make the 3 easily the best ROKU yet.
Pros: Fast Setup, Sd Port, Improved Audio/Video, Netflix subtitles, USB port
Cons: No youtube

Extremely weak WIFI

We have several devices in the den that reliably connect and stream video over a wireless router in the living room. The Roku 3 attempts to connect and then just gives a cryptic error number with no explanation. After an hour of fiddling around, I discovered the Roku 3 has a very weak WIFI signal (significantly weaker than our other WIFI devices). I also discovered that it won't stream video from any of our video servers. Given these failures, I put the Roku 3 back in the box and continue using our Blu-Ray player for streaming movies.
Pros: Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Fast Setup
Cons: Difficult setup
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
