Good Device, Needs Additions

This product is OK. The streaming quality is good. The product is easy to use and set up. Some of the drawbacks include: limited interesting channels, no Youtube access, and no access to local streaming via the internet. I like that this product does not rely on the Apple iTunes infrastructure for playing music. Overall Grade: B/B-
Pros: Not Apple, Easy to use, Fast Setup, Simple Controls, Attractive Design, Good Streaming
Cons: Needs Relevant Channels, Does not have YouTube

We have two Rokus, one in a bedroom and the new Roku3 in our Family Room. We love the convenience and variety of channels. Have recommended it to several friends...it's a life changer, being able to watch shows without commercials!

One of a few electronic devices that is easy to initialize. We use it for movies, TV Shows When you lose WIFI you need to repair the remote to the unit

I use it all of the time. It's easier than using another device (wii u, DVD player etc.) to get the streaming content I want. The search feature is one of the best features it has.

Faster and better

I bought the X2 over a year ago and love that I can stream Amazon Prime video. I also use the TED, Revision3, and AOL HD channels. I bought the Roku3 when I got the announcement email and installed it on the home theater TV. It's faster than X2, and after setting up the audio for 5.1, it's a great experience. I would easily recommend it to friends and family that have Prime. I don't have any other paid streaming service (Netflix, Hulu, Showtime, HBO2Go, etc...) What I love: the bluetooth controller. No need to point at anything. Also, love that Roku3 controller has headphone input...genius! One con, it drains the batteries fast with headphones so I use rechargables. I use it with my WiFi N router. The only issue I have is when the microwave is on (me thinks it has a leak) it can interfere with streaming and even cause me to have to manually reconnect to the network. The biggest complaint I have: no native YouTube and I'm not willing to jump through hoops to stream it. And even if it did have Youtube, imagine typing in your search use the remote - bleh. The good news, Google Chromecast was just released so that might be the best solution for my YouTube needs.

Cons: Still No Native Youtube
