We have owned all three versions. Each one has gotten better and better. It is perfect as a bedroom unit especially if you don't want to pay the cable company the fee for a box. Use of private channels and codes can get you live basic cable for free. Overall a good cheap reliable unit.
Pros: Improved Audio/Video, Simple Controls, Attractive Design, Private Channels, Fast Setup
Cons: No Access Network Media

Great but no YouTube

The Roku 3 is fantastic. The remote is fantastic. It needn't point at the Roku to work (and it always works) and it has a built in headphone jack. There is an amazing amount of content out there, especially if you buy PlayOn (you should). It would rate 5 stars, but for two things. First, it only has an HDMI out. My stereo passes through only video on HDMI, so to get video to my TV and audio through my stereo I had to buy a $50 adapter. Of course, if I hadn't insisted on audio through my stereo I could have just listened through my TV and not paid extra. The other disappointment is the lack of YouTube. Google wants you to buy *their* set-top box, and so Roku doesn't get access to YouTube, which Google owns. You can work around this, but it is a hassle and not nearly as neatly done as it would be if Roku let you do it directly.

Cons: Only Hdmi, No youtube

I have had a Roku for 2 years and just purches the Roku 3 I find it much faster program access then the 2

The RCA audio connections are not on the new Roku which is unfortunate. Would like the ability to output the audio to a receiver.

The best streaming device!

This was an upgrade from the original ROKU that we used for about 4 years and now is starting to drop the wifi signal. We really got our moneys worth with that unit and expect also expect to with this new unit.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Simple Controls, Improved Audio/Video

Fantastic interface. I have the Roku 2 and, while that is great, this is much faster. The dual antennas seem to really make a difference in streaming speed. It was like I got a new TV. Really, really great product. Much better than my Apple TV and Sony Bluray streaming player.

Best Internet media player

I bought the roku3 after careful research and after comparison to Apple TV.I am glad we bought it and it meets our needs completely. I wish there was Youtube app,though you can still have it set up through Plex media player.
