Everything as Advertised

I'm retiring soon so looking for ways to cut expenses, ie: replacing my current TV satellite provider. Since this is all new to me, I went shopping at my local Best Buy store. The salesman was really excited about the new Roku 3 and convinced me that I should try it. I also purchased a digital TV antenna to pull in local stations free (works great). The Roku is a completely simple installation and worked perfectly as advertised. I subscribed to Hulu Plus for $7.95 / month and it may take me a year to explore all their programming. My only disappointment was learning that my Samsung Smart TV and my Panasonic Blu-Ray Player will both do the same thing as the Roku does (I think). It's not a problem for me since if I do give up my Satellite service, I have 2 other TV's that are not Smart, so I'll still have to buy another Roku. I'm sure I still have a lot to learn, but it seems well worth the money. Thanks for a great product that does what it says it will.

I think this could really be cool as more and more channels are signed. I really haven't spent a lot of time with it, but it seems that when it sits alone awhile, it needs to be reset. Watching Ted ROCKS. I'm addicted to those Ted Talks.

A Wonderful Viewing Medium!

ROKU, in all its many levels/ types, is a wonderful, modern & effective TV viewing device. I have purchased 3 different ROKU's and found them very good devises for multi channel viewing. Many new channels are added on, the variety is excellent and the actual picture quality is more than I expected- being a critical "Audvid-o-holic!. My new 52" Sony HDMI never looked better. The latest versions offers a fantastic headphone plug in on the remote control. Quite innovative and used by all family members. If only the last version offered RCA output jacks then it would be lacking nothing. I did encounter some technical issues. ROKU online help was reasonably prompt, they did have to contact me via phone however. They were very kind in their demeanor and did get my issues warranty problem resolved. Thanks ROKU for a superb product, good customer resolution and a multi-level/ muti- priced "LBB" (little black box". Truly one of the very few companies that far over stepped a first good impression. Congratulations gentlemen! DC

I tried this product for a while, but the only thing that makes it better than the original roku is that it's home screen loads faster. Most of the software for the apps on roku 3 are different and none of them are better.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup
Cons: Varying Clicking Volume, Poor Hulu Plus Software, No Useful Improvements

just about perfect

I spend 90% of my Roku time in PLEX, Netflix, or Spotify with a few other channels thrown in as well. It's a nearly perfect box and the only way to improve it would be to put a keyboard on the back of the remote.

This device is perfect with the ability to put it in the bedroom, and when the spouse is ready to sleep, I simply plug in the headphones. No more "can you turn it down"!!!

Big Disappointment

I was very disappointed when I got it all set up. It has limited channels and pretty much you have to pay for all of them separate monthly subscriptions. I returned it and got myself a Sony Blue ray player. Same price but you can also play blue rays and regular DVDs :)
Pros: Attractive Design
Cons: Have to give credit card, Difficult setup, Only Paid Programming
