I mainly use my roku 3 to stream from netflix, hulu plus, mlb, pandora and slacker and it does all of these things flawlessly
Pros: Fast Setup, Small Size, Improved Audio/Video, Attractive Design, Simple Controls

We purchased the Roku 3. Very happy with it so far. We have it hard-wired to our network and it loads very fast. There are a lot of apps but we wish there were more free ones and also a local news "channel."

Nice but I like local channels

I was hoping to cut my cable and only use the Roku but ended up returning the Roku after about a week. I like to watch live news and local tv. I could not do that with the Roku. I also don't like to have to search so much for something to watch. If it was more like cable where there is a guide I probably would have kept it and just got local channels through cable

I use it to watch Netflix, HBOGO, Hulu Plus and VUDU. It is an excellent device... i have had almost no issues with it at all. Does lose the wireless connection once a month or so, but not a big deal at all.

Decent Streaming Player

I replaced my Apple TV with a Roku 3 as the Apple TV version I had was no longer supported. Instead of getting the latest Apple TV, I opted for something different: The Roku 3. I only use this device for Netflix, and I have found that movies that are not Dolby Digital have bad sound quality. I am unable to hear what people are saying over the background music or noise in the movie. With the Apple TV, I didn't have this problem.
Pros: Simple Controls, Attractive Design, Multiple Apps, Fast Setup
Cons: Sound quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This nifty gadget works great, and the controls are simple yet complete. The Roku is a bit pricey for what it delivers, but I think it could be a good alternative to cable or satellite TV, which in my opinion is the worst way to spend my entertainment dollar. The cost/value ratio would improve if I could get live TV with it. Perhaps networks, PBS etc.
