We have 2 boxes, one for the living room with our 60 inch 1080p LCD and 7.1 surround, and 1 for our bedroom which is a 42 inch 1080p LCD. I have been using Roku since the first box, and will continue to purchase each new model. This is probably in the top 3 purchases I have ever made.

Easy setup, very fast response, and great search features. Will occasionally freeze up with the Netflix app(requiring a power cycle to reboot), but other than that, a rock solid performer.

Great upgrade from the previous versions

I sold off my Roku 2XS in early 2012 as it was a little sluggish and I never found myself using it. So I decided to take a chance with the Roku 3 after seeing all the good reviews. And so far so good. I mainly wanted to use it with the Time Warner Channel and wow it's fantastic, but be warned the channel selection on the app is set up more like Netflix. There are no channel numbers just station ID's, and then categories with what shows are currently on. Wifi 1080 streaming worked nice. A few times resolution dropped to rebuffer but otherwise it's fine. I tend to stick with ethernet and I have zero issues. Angry Birds Space played great. The headphone jack on the remote is good too. I noticed some of my channels from my older Roku are no longer available on the new Roku. That might be an issue with the channel operator and not really Roku. I plugged in an external drive that had some movies in .MKV format and some worked some didn't. Almost all other formats worked fine. Menu's load almost instantly. Includes Plex, which solves any codec issues and overall a great companion to the Roku. You can even stream photos and music from your iPad/iPhone right to the Roku using the ios App! (I can't believe this isn't advertised more) So overall a nice improvement, and until someone comes out with something better this is a keeper. Also since getting the Roku 3, I purchased a Roku HD on sale to use in another room in the house. It's a little slower than the 3 but wifi is excellent and offers the same functions and upgraded sleek menu. They added a lot more functions in 1 year, this thing does a lot now!

A Great Bargain!

The one slight flaw in the Roku 3 is that it is small, and heats up easily. Sometimes, it just shut off. Whether this was due to the overheating, sunspots, general internet interruptions, or whatever, I don't know. It happened several times when the unit was new. Now that it is more than a month old, it does not happen, so it may not have been the size / overheating. Aside from such few, minor, early problems, the unit has been operating very well since then. It gives me complete freedom from the Cable / Satellite con game of bundling which forces on me channels I don't want. With the Roku, I only get channels I want. Some are free, and others are very affordable. I Use the Roku 3 daily, and have no complaints. The Roku gives me access to: movies, TV shows, documentaries, and more. The video is sharp, the channel / program selection is good, the ease of set up is great, and the cost is reasonable. I recommend it.
