Beats the pants off of cable. Especially when combined with Simple.tv and HBOGO. The only con is that the case is ugly. Thankfully its small enough that no one will ever see it.
Pros: Global Search, Simple Controls, Improved Audio/Video, Fast Setup
Cons: Roku2 Case Was Better

It's a wonderful product, the Netflix and Spotify apps alone make this the center of my entertainment system. It's incredibly sleek, simple to use, and fun. The only complaint is the inability to get HBO Go or any NFL games.
Pros: Sleek, Game Changer, Fast Setup, Simple Controls, Intuitive

I got this unit to take advandatage of my DirecTV HD setup. Setup was painless and my connection is set to wireless. I was able to connect to my Netflex, Amazon and MLBTV accounts easily, but I still have a couple issues. 1. At times (every 3-4 days) the video input freezes and I have to reboot the system - annoying but I can live with it. 2. Remote is still clunky - why not a keypad? Overall it was worth the money; I jusst wish they could iron out these little annoyances.
Pros: Fast Setup, Simple Controls
Cons: Reboot Needed 3-4 Days

I love the headphone jack on the remote!!! This should have been going on for some time now... thanks for creating a new standard for remotes RoKu!!! This device allows for more free programming, already laid out, without scouring the internet for multiple clips. Although I do wish it had some more 'ADVANCED' settings in its network setup it continues to prove its worth in our home.
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup, Improved Audio/Video
Cons: For Basic Users Only, Lack Of Security Choices

I had a Roku 2 previously, and displayed a "slideshow" of pictures routinely on a television (from a USB stick). This worked great. When I upgraded to a Roku 3, the unit would crash inconsistently (sometimes in 10 minutes, sometimes in a few hours) when doing this. I reported to the technical support folks, and got LOTS of run-around until, after a ton of time, my call got escalated to third level support, where they successfully replicated the problem. Unfortunately, this is not a common use of the Roku, so engineering has not fixed it yet (they have known about it for about 1/2 year). We have resorted to other ways to display pictures. Other than this, the unit is rock solid. It streams great from Amazon, Netflix, and other sites. It provides a great image (assuming that the movie itself is in HD or similar quality - "garbage in, garbage out" - most movies are just fine). I particularly love the wide range of channels available, and the fact that all of the mainstream streaming services support the Roku. As a suggestion, I wish the unit had "more feedback" (either via the programming API or just via the remote). Sometimes, I'd like to know how much longer a movie is. I see this if a pause the movie (rather invasive) ... I'd like an "info" button that would just provide the progress bar on the bottom of the screen without pausing the movie. I'd be fine if this was available via the API as well (I have an automation system that uses the API).
Pros: Great Capabilities, Simple Controls, Low Power Consumption
Cons: Little Feedback

Roku 3

I use the Roku 3 for streaming movies. I've have/had video quality issues that seem to come and go. I haven't determined yet if this is due to the Roku, my ISP, or Netflix. The other issue that I have with this setup (again not pointing fingers at any source) is when viewing series going to the next series (episode)isn't always automatic. Some times I can't even manually go to the next episode unless I completely get out of the series,go back to the home screen, then go back to Netflix, then to the series, then I am able to select the proper series. I don't have this problem when accessing Netflix via my PC. On the positive side the Roku was very easy to set up and I like the layout of the remote which has few buttons and they are located properly. A good remote is one that can be used without looking at it and the Roku certainly meets this requirement. The RF feature is great so one can get away from the pointing routine. Also, I rarely (if ever) have a data buffering problem like I do with some of my other devices which is totally annoying. To me this is the most important feature of the Roku. I will rate the Roku 3 with 5 stars if/when the above issues are fixed or found not to be a Roku problem.
Pros: Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Fast Setup
Cons: Does Not Improve Audio/Video
