You get what you pay for. I was hoping for a $100 box that would allow me to save money by bypassing the cable companies. Without paid subscriptions or pay-per-view, this is not an acceptable solution. When watching a 'free' movie, you will be subjected to THE SAME ad 20X over the course of a movie for a business 1000 miles away. After the ad, you may need to pause, go back to the menu, restart the movie. I love the concept but the technology is just not mature enough yet. The audio jack in the remote is brilliant.
Pros: Fast Setup, Attractive Design, Inexpensive
Cons: Poor Search Engine, Buggy Hardware, Annoying Irelevelnt Ads

I use the Roku3 for watching Netflix and Amazon content. It would be really nice if they had would add a youtube channel and native support for streaming local content. You can watch youtube and stream local content by using Plex but would be nice if the device would do that without having to setup a Plex server.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Simple Controls
Cons: No Native Local Streaming, No Native Youtube Channel

roku 3 glitch

Roku 3 loses the wireless connection if left idle for more than three hours, especially overnight. It then must be manually reconnecyed to the internet in order to open any app. Many owners of roku 3 players have complained about this glitch on the internet reviews. I have no trouble with my two roku players. Finally, I have placed my roku player near my router and changed from wireless to wired connection to my router with an ethernet cable. Now it works properly and never loses the internet connection. I think that roku should look into this and come up with a software update that corrects this roku 3 problem. This is an otherwise very good product that I really enjoy.

I watch Netflix and Amazon movies with my Roku and absolutely love it. I could not get any sound with some movies streamed using my old Roku but now I have no problem. I have used Roku since its appearance and have been very happy with this product. I also like the headset on the remote especially when you don't want to disturb others in the household. User friendly. Would highly recommend.

Good but....

I like the product a lot, but I need to remove the power source each and every time I use, because it will not work unless I do this. If I dont power down it searches and searches and does not connect; this is across all channels. Once I power down and replug in, it works just fine. Really takes the ease out of its use to have to manually do this every time and then I have to deal with the protracted wait period for it to connect. If this bug were fixed, I would recommend wholeheartedly.

I used at home,it's great for the hold family, wish they at NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox and nobody would use cable again or paid a penny. As soon my family see it, loved and get it.
