Good product. Poor free content

The device itself is well designed, easy to install and navigate. However it may be my fault for not fully researching the available content. I had hoped to view quality programs and movies for free. With few exceptions this is not the case. The device is just a method to access more pay channels. The free sites are lacking in quality programming.
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup

I love ROKU and Roku 3 is almost perfect

I upgraded from Roku HD to 3. The Roku 3 processor is much faster allowing quick navigation between channels and options within channels. I like the channel grid vs a single row and the ability to move them around the grid. The only negative is my headphone plug would not lock into the recessed jack on the remote. Solved with an inexpensive adapter (would be nice if it was included or just make the jack flush).

I have to reboot the Roku 3 every couple of days. Not sure if the fault is with the Roku or my cable company.

Very Cool

We wanted something to watch Netflix with on our TV. Originally we had a Blu-Ray/Streaming combo (Sony BDPS3500?) it was great for playing Blu-Rays and we liked it for playing Netflix. Eventually the Wi-Fi on that unit started to have issues. We tried a Samsung (BDE5400/ZA) Blu-Ray/Streaming combo, it was way slower and would disconnect frequently. After some research and after visiting three different stores that were sold out, we bought a Roku 3. It was well worth the runaround. Immediately we noticed that our former Netflix app was terrible. In addition, there is a wealth of public access television channels available on Roku that some people will truly hate, but I find very interesting. With a background in programming, I've started developing in BrightScript (Roku Channel Language). It's not hard to pick up and is fairly well documented. I think Roku could provide a portal for DIY entertainers to gain access to a larger audience. I am pleased, and $99.00 was a very fair price tag. Summary: Roku has set the bar very high for streaming video. You should get one, or try a friends.
