I love the remote and the ease of setup and use. I would add that I'm disappointed I can't power the unit off without unplugging it. I don't care that it needs to update software. It can do that with the convenience of a power button.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great piece of tech. Some issues of availability of content in the area where I live. Roku needs to work a little more in making content available for international customers if they want the product to be used worldwide.

Absolutely Love My ROKU 3!

I bought the Roku 3 about 3 months ago. I have owned an Apple TV (3rd Gen.) for about 2 years. As more and more of my 'digital copies' became Ultraviolet compatible only, I had nowhere to view them, as neither Flixster nor Vudu are Apple TV compatible. Anyway, I was in the market for wireless headphones, and happened to notice that the Roku 3's remote also functioned as wireless headset. Earbuds were even included. I immediately liked the Roku's functionality. After 3 months of use, I have to admit that I really really prefer the Roku's interface over the Apple TV's. I still like my Apple TV, but the Roku has become my first choice. The remote control is so much more useful. Apple TV drives me insane the way that you have to click the menu button several times to back up out of the screen you are in to get back to the home screen. My biggest complaint about the Roku is that Netflix and HBO Go are definitely slower than on the Apple TV. Click on Netflix on Apple TV, and it almost instantly pops up. With Roku, there is enough of a wait that I find myself getting very impatient. HBO Go can sometimes take several minutes to sign in and display what is available to watch. Another really nice feature is the micro usb port, so you can expand the storage of the Roku, should you want to load up a ton of channels and games.

I bought the roku to reduce my cable bill, yeah its a cool little device to have but most of the channels you either have to pay to watch or enter your cable subscription, so what's the point I may as well have kept my cable at least I could watch live television.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this Roku about a month ago at Sam's Club and got a great deal (Roku 3 and an HDMI cable for $85). I bought the Roku so I could access the new WWE Network, but it does so much more. The machine is fast with a near endless supply of content to enjoy. The headphone jack on the remote is a life saver for someone like me who loves to watch television as I fall asleep but my girlfriend cannot stand the sound. It is responsive and easy to work with.
There are some flaws, however. I have accidentally fallen asleep with the headphones plugged in and it has drained my battery. Streaming media from my phone isn't always perfect (for some reason the music is sped up and the pitch is higher). On occasion I get an odd error says that my "Content is Unauthorized" but it seems that unplugging all the cords and replacing them fixes that. Finally, my Roku actually froze and reset itself last night while I was watching. These flaws seem to be alot, but they occur rarely and do not detract from the overall enjoyment of this machine.
