Great, But Can Be Better

I use my Roku 3 to stream video rather than having Cable, or Satellite. It works great! It gives me many channels, and many shows. Some channels are free, others are not. Even the pay channels are low cost. I use it to view: old movies, old TV shows, recent TV shows, news reports, and documentaries. The one complaint I have is that it is so small, and compact, that it retains heat, overheats, and shuts down on occasion. Then I unplug it for an hour, or so, and start up again. If it were a bit larger, and had more in the way of air vents on top-to let hot air escape-it would be perfect. As it is, it is well worth the cost, and I do recommend it to friends, and family.
Pros: Affordable, Improved Audio/Video, Fast Setup, Simple Controls, Attractive Design
Cons: Overheats Due To Size

Here's how I came to discover Roku. I was recovering from breaking some bones and had been ordered onto total bed rest. That's when I discovered just how loaded with commericals cable t.v had become. I was looking at 3 months of mindless product pitches when I thought, "there has to be a better way!" Sure enough, After some online research, I discovered Roku 3 had just been released. I hadn't known about Roku products untill that day. I called the company, gave them the fantastic plastic number card and inside of a week I was watching Movies on my newly upgraded Television system. I really enjoy Netflicks and the other movie channels. I wish Amazon offered more content in their Prime Account. Hulu is managed very well. I'm glad PBS is availabe on Roku and Acorn is a pure delight. They could offer the new Sherlock Homlms every month just to make me happy. My dislikes about the Roku are few, Organizing the channels is druge work. There has to be a better way. I see no reason for so many religous channels. Many are aimed at their own communities. That's fine for their areas but, is it a reason to be included on a service provided for a large geographic range? As fast as I can remove them, new ones are there again. In the future, I hope Roku will devote more time finding new partners that could appel to many users instead channels with limited appeal. When I have needed Support Services, I found well informed people on the other end who were articulate, well informed and thoughtfully interested in helping to solve the issue. This service is invaluabe and very well done. I apperciate not having to desipher a forgien dialect. Overall, I'd score Roku 8 out of 10. Roku is a winner in my book. As far as my broken bones, the Doc says I'm healing and I thank Roku for keeping me entertained these long days.

Great little device

This is a great little box. With Amazon Prime and Netflix there really isn't much I'm missing from Cable. I still view local broadcast TV from time to time, but mostly to catch the news. Otherwise all my entertainment is now through the Roku. The only really annoying thing about this streamer is that there isn't any volume control, so I need to have a second remote handy at all times - especially since the streams all seem to have different volume settings...
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup
Cons: No volume control

Not many cons. The headphone jack completely broke after 1 month of use. ROKU 3 support however was fast and courteous in sending a replacement. Good product all around. Would recommend highly. Would like local channel options.

I love this little device. I upgraded my Internet speed I was so thrilled with it. Then the nightmare....my new router and Roku 3 didn't like each other. But Roku support did not give up until the issue was resolved. Yay for Roku support, I have my Roku humming along now. Can't imagine watching TV in the bedroom without it. Thank you Roku.
