Not what I was looking for

I was looking for a way to bring my internet TV to my television. Sadly anything worth viewing on Roku is pay per view. There is no plain Hulu (free) just Hulu plus.

I'll start by saying that I've owned roku 1, 2 and 3, and the roku 3 I purchased was substandard if not junk. I only bought 3 because of the great experience I had with 1 & 2 but 3 seemed to freeze after any extended period of use especially while using the usb port and really that was my only problem with it but it was a major problem. I have since abandoned roku and connected an old pc to my tv and am much happier.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Mostly satisfied

I have had the Roku for about 2 weeks and the only 3 problems I seem to have is 1) It's will just suddenly stop working and I have to unplug it and plug it back in. This has happened about 5 times. 2) Some of the FREE channels are like home made programs, ie., Vegan Channel and Net Fit. I am already paying for Amazon Prime and Netflix and would think there would be better quality programming available since you are competing with cable and satellite. 3) I have a library account that is supposed to allow Indieflix for free on my Roku and it doesn't work. My librarian says it's a problem between you and Indieflix. Time to get the kinks out folks.

I love our Roku 3. It is faster and easier to understand and use than my streaming Blueray player. It is consistent and reliable.

Needs rethinking

Sound volume is inconsistent and in some cases distorted due to it being over-powered. The remote works good, but because it's radio controlled (as opposed to iR control), it cannot be trained to a universal remote control. It also has seemingly useless buttons on it such as a volume control and other buttons .

Not Worth the Money

We purchased the Roku 3 in Sept. 2013 and it is not working correctly anymore. We have had issues with the audio. We get the picture fine. We have rebooted/unplugged the unit, we have changed the HDMI cable, we have hooked it up to a different TV and we have reset the unit to factory setting. Nothing has fixed the problem. We use this Roku unit a lot through out the day. It should still last longer than 11 months. We have the Roku 2 we use on another TV and have had no problems with it, however we don't use it nearly as many hours as the Roku 3. We will research other streaming devices when we replace this one. Will not buy another Roku device.

Wow! I have to say after owning several models, this one is the Best! The smooth and fast response when searching for a movie,show, actor, title etc, is incredible! It shows where they all can be found across all channels, free, paid, rent etc. I love it! Best upgrade yet to date! Also best investment if your not a fan of satelitte or cable, but you can get a small in expensive anntena (wamart) and have even more free channels! Yes, I'm not kidding! Absolutely worth every penny! Thanks roku keep beating google and amazon!

I love that the Roku isn't attached to any vendor or content provider, so it has the most streaming apps, Roku, Amazon, etc... Plus it's fast and reliable.
