Doesn't work for the purposes I intended

Appears to work fine for free content. However, I was hoping to eliminate my TV contract and since Fox News live is not available that was a big negative. The other purpose for purchasing was to watch movies but am finding they require too many gigabytes and only allow 2 or 3 movies per month before I exceed my limit. Hardly worth the Netflix monthly fee. Most of the free content which I watch is on TV and since I could not opt out of that I really don't need Roku. Am hoping that the 5 or 6 months of the year when I have DSL my usage will improve, but for now it was an unnecessary purchase.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Roku 3, the best yet!

Having owned previous early models of Roku boxes, the Roku 3 made leaps and bounds of improvements, and features! It's been working flawlessly for over a year now. If you've been sitting on the fence about buying your first Roku, or upgrading your existing Roku, don't hesitate!

cut the cord

We bought this three months ago asa substitute for cable and finally cut the cord saving usa bunch per month. Great service as long as you have a good isp.

This is my second Roku3 and my 3rd Roku (other one is a lite). We use this in place of cable TV and it works perfectly.

Netflix and more

I bought it 6 months ago. We don't use cable television, so Roku/Netflix is our means. Its good for that, the rest of the apps are ok, but truly we barely use them. They need to add more content and certainly full shows instead of the clips that are the majority.
I would recommend this to a friend!

On an out-of-state work assignment: happy to watch home cable service with a Slingbox at home and two (2) Roku 3's in my apartment. Investments will pay off before the end of the job!

I hate the new user presentation from NETFIX. It is hard to see and it nolonger X refs movies that are similiar. ROKU need to tell Netflix about this terrible interface. My old DVD player is better at NETFLIX.

Awesome......But has some Flaws

Netflix still takes at least 30 to 40 sec to reach the full HD 1080 P clarity, i mean it starts loading up fast but starts the streaming in SD video quality and then takes 30 to 40 sec to reach 1080 P quality, which is disappointing as my Sony Blu ray starts load time little slow compared to Roku but once the streaming starts its in full 1080 P, not like Roku SD and then HD . Because of this one reason i use Netflix on my Sony Blu ray player .
Would expect more video processing power to achieve faster 1080 P.
Over all this is the best streamer available so i am thinking what will be the fate of competitors if this above small flaw is corrected.
