We bought Roku 3 about a month ago. It was easy to set up, easy to use and ready go out of the box. We should have gotten this ages ago!

Good but a little disappointed

It works good, you get plenty of channels and its nice to watch netflix without paying any fee or membership (like i did with the xbox). The only issue I had was MGO offers you movies, you get two free ones so you can try it out. Well when I did rent a movie, it froze up my roku, it kept restarting and it just got really frustrating.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I got rid of satellite and got an antennae for the tv. that was good for about 2 months, but then I started getting antsy for something other than pbs and the 3 main channels. My friend had gotten a Roku some time ago but I was not sure how it worked, and how the picture would be, but at $99 it would pay for itself in one month as compared to the montly satellite bill. I got it, installed it and now enjoy high def TV on demand. Plus I'm saving $ every month. I was so over satellite.

I was really excited when I got the roku 3. For the first few days it worked great. All of a sudden it didn't. It constantly loses internet connection. For a half hour show I had to reset my wifi settings 4 times. I thought at first it was my internet connection, but it works fine on my wii and I can watch it for hours with out interruption. It is only the roku. I would love this device if it worked properly, alas it does not so it only gets 1 star and I'm out $100.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great when it works

I purchased it from Amazon several months ago and used it daily. Problems started almost immediately. Sometimes it works flawlessly other times, it works right up to the point I say "Watch now" and then no video content. I went on line and found this was a common problem. I tried all the "fixes" and bought a new "gold" HDMI cord. Tried unplugging and replugging; tried changing the display screen size between 720p to 1080 p and readjusted my wi-fi. Still having the same problems. Not worth the hassel. I just ordered the ROKU 2 since it reportedly was more dependable. We'll see how that works. If not I will move on to another brand streamer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

When it works. Constantly freezes, issues with soft remote, not smart enough to distinguish DTS and 5.1.

The amount of free content, especially on Amazon Instant Video, is remarkable. While the other content is amazing, I bought TWO Roku 3 devices primarily for my Amazon Prime videos, and was NOT disappointed. Setup was easy, and the video quality is great! My ONLY negative comment is that for us hearing impaired folks, there are no closed captions for Amazon Prime Instant Videos (at least not yet -- maybe someday). Otherwise, I couldn't ask for a finer product to satisfy my urges to watch all my favorite series.
