No composite outputs.

I tried this unit and returned it because it's missing the composite outputs I need to drive my wireless headphones. The headphone jack in the remote is not acceptable alternative since I prefer not being tethered to the remote even though it is small.

works fine for what it does. we were sky angel customers looking for a way to watch live tv channels such as fox news. in that regard we were disappointed.

My wife got me a Roku 3 for Christmas since I have been trying to find a good way to cut the cord for a year now, without suffering too much content loss. To compliment it, I set up a plex server for our movies, which are a mix of avi, mp4, and mkv files from converting our dvd library over the years. The plex streaming is seamless. We have also enjoyed watching a handful of channels available for news and shows both, and have been so delighted at the results that we bought a 2nd Roku 3 for upstairs, and am planning to buy a Roku 2 for our (final) older TV which doesn't have hdmi - to get the a/v out option. we haven't watched our "cable" providers tv offerings in nearly a month, and the trial run has been a success. we'll be dumping our cable next month when the contract is over, and going pure Roku. I have read reviews about the competitors (wd and netgear) but their review talk of buffering snags, and lockups. I can say both Roku 3's have offered spotless performance over wifi and we are actually surprised - and delighted. If you are concerned about local channels, many metros now offer Aereo cloud dvr or Mohu antennas - which easily justify leaving the crazy $100 cable bill behind. Thanks Roku Team!

If it wasn't for "Apple TV" Roku would rule. As such, they are each other's main competitors. Roku does have a ton of channels but Apple TV is quickly adding them as well. Also, upon opening the box, Roku looks and feels cheap in comparison. Roku's remote control and friendliness of the manual however are a notch above.
My biggest complaint with Roku is the "interface" while using Netflix. While the content is the same, the menu's and searching are very subpar compared to Apple's version. With Roku, it is much more difficult to find movies and tv shows. Very frustrating.

I had purchased three units, one for myself and two to be used as gifts.
While trying to install the first one, I was very much put off by the requirement for providing my personal data, including credit card information despite your much touted message that usage was free. This unanticipated requirement was obviously aimed at inducing the purchase of non-free content through ROKU. I was given no option, since you require the providing of this information on-line in order to obtain a registration code, which then permits ROKU to do an on-line activation of this "free-to use" product.
I decided to proceed, although I felt it would be much more civilized to allow me to provide this information only after I had been able to try the device, and then only if I chose to purchase some additional content. I never did get to that stage. I provided the information and received the registration code, but as I reached the final registration stage I couldn't enter the code because by then the remote control failed.
I returned all three units. The first one because the unit failed, and the others because my intended gift recipients do not, as a matter of principle, put credit card information on line. Nor did I care to risk exposing them to product problems.
I am now using an APPLE TV, which provides the same functionality quite satisfactorily without subjecting me to a registration process such as yours.

ROKU 1

Unit would not accept the link code requiring a lengthy telephone call with ROKU support. The visuals seem to be adopted from Windows 8 -a bunch of channels crammed onto a small screen. The remote is sketchy, not very sensitive, designed for those who love to push buttons. I returned it and fired up my old unit.
