Easy to use! Portal to great programming

I'm a technophobe so I was very surprised be the ease of setting up and using Roku. We find new great programming every time we explore. Don't know how we took so long to discover Roku.

Good option to avoid Cable TV subscription

When I moved to y new apartment I had 3 options to get Netflix and Hulu Plus:
- purchase a smart TV (quite expensive)
- subscribe to cable TV (expensive monthly fee)
- purchase a PC and connect it to my TV
- purchase a Roku

So I bought a Roku 3 and I am quite happy with it, a lot a content available, easy to setup and to use, small price. The minor points are:
- no Internet browser
- no wireless keyboard option
- navigation no so easy with the remote

Because of the WiFi option I bought the Roku2, next to my blu ray player (with a wired connection).
However, the content offered is much, much more than available through the blu ray player.

It is exactly as it was described. I would like a connection to local news channels to keep up with the daily news. I have no cost for cable as you update this great equipment it will get nothing but better

Non-paid private channels!

I bought this with the idea of getting all my TV on Roku instead of cable. I was disappointed to find that paying for Roku all you get are a couple of free programs add ons and the really good stuff costs extra money. That is until I found private developers who make applications for the Roku and Plex which lets me watch movies from my computer. Very fast and snappy better response than Google TV or ChromeCast. Beyond that the Roku is expensive, with limited content, but it delivers that content very fast!

Great purchase for the mildly tech savvy

Had this for about one month and it has done everything I had hoped it would and more. We use Amazon alot and have a Prime account and movies content, etc purchased with Amazon that we can now easily stream on our TV. The one thing I didn't like was there is no app for Youtube. Then I found Twonky with an internet search trying to fix that problem: problem solved. We use Twonky app on our Kindle Fire to stream Youtube to the Roku. It took 20 min. to set up and that's record time for me in anything having to do with this stuff. Really happy with the purchase. For the money it makes life a lot easier for us.
