This was a Christmas gift, I was looking for free movies, and it seems like I have to pay for the movies, am I not doing it right!

So close! ...but still need to remotes!

So close to 5 stars... If you can mute the TV when you plug in the earphone, why not control the volume for heaven's sake! You still need to have your tv remote handy to control volume... and there is variation in volume between channels. When you plug in earbuds to the remote, the tv mutes and the remote's own volume controls work. I WANT THEM TO WORK ALL THE TIME! ...it should be easy technically since the device already demonstrates the ability to mute the sound over the HDMI interface and transmit it to the remote. BUT if there is a licensing issue blocking this obvious implementation, then install a bluetooth chip in the handset and allow Bluetooth headphones and SPEAKERS to provide the audio so the remote's volume controls will work full time. It is not rocket science... so close to perfect!
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup
Cons: Still Need Two Remotes

I bought this hoping we could use this to watch the videos from my computer. NOPE!!! Called Roku and spent an hour on with customer service to be told that there was nothing they could do, except to suggest that I change the file type. I have too many videos to do that. Very disappointed in it. I've ended up using for my kids to watch netflix on.
Pros: Simple Controls
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I will write a review when I get a system that works. My three sons all have Roku systems and love them. Mine did not work out of the box and a replacement is being sent.
Pros: Attractive Design
Cons: Did Not Work Send New, Difficult setup

I bought a month ago but it load very slow while change the channels and amny times stuck. this is not a good experience at all. The manufacturer only gives 90 days waranttee but most of manufacturer for their product gives 1 year because they know their product last long.

When I bought this hardware I returned it after a few short hours. Don't get me wrong it's a great device, great idea, but poorly executed. I want to be able to play my local media without having to use a DLNA server, because I really enjoy the simple things like sorting media the way I want, and the option to fast forward or rewind at any point. I would really love a device like this that could browse smb or nfs shares. Guess it's not for me. There wasn't a whole lot of options (channels) that I thought made it worth keeping.
