Disappointment After Using Apple TV...

The Remote Control for Roku remote is the one area in which this product shines; its wireless format, headphone jack, far nicer fast forward/reverse queuing, size/lanyard to keep it from getting 'lost', and more numerous/traditional controls. The remote is quite nice, while the Apple TV Remote Control is a horrible example of Designers sacrificing utility for trendy 'aerodynamic' styling.
That being said, and having traded in my iPad for a new Surface...
In too many important ways the Roku is mediocre compared to the much older Apple TV. With very limited on-screen display of content selection, it's like viewing a video store through the mail slot/letter box; no obvious ability to drill down to other titles based on current subject/actor/director, etc.; very herky-jerky response too much of the time and screen freezes while a menus download/refresh; noticeable delays in starting the stream too much of the time; no way to browse large screen of possible titles, just claustrophobic rows; video seems trimmed compared to Apple TV presentation; and no extras already set up and ready to go, like a Podcast menu.
Let's face it, after a short time viewing the content you know about, you're going to run out of ideas and want to browse. The Roku has no where near the sophistication of the Apple TV in content referrals or in menu suggestions. And, when you add the ability to stream content from the free iTunes...
I may be wrong on some of these, but neither the manual, on-screen prompting, or web site present any information on how to access these other features on the Roku, if available.
We're probably going to return this unit and go back to the Apple TV even though the remote sucks and it seems to be Apple's most neglected product offering.
Sorry, Roku, the hardware is nice, but the ecosystem is far too primitive.

u cant watch netflix or hulu plus if u out said of amirica like the athor devices so bad thing that u cant even add the channels

Bad Idea to buy-don't buy

This thing is terrible if you are not at home with unlimited internet. I have a jet pack from Verizon and have to buy data by the GB. Every movie takes at least 2GBs so I am really limited as to what I can watch and no one has an unlimited data program anymore. I have it on a boat, so it does not do me much good. If you are home with unlimited internet service it probably is great.

I got a good deal but the signal isn't constant enough to give me a continual signal with ADSL2 to view any programs from any channel yet smoothly, uninterrupted picture signal. That is video mainly! Now I'm not an engineer but I am open to ideas that could improve my signal.
