i bought this for dramafever channel and it is hopeless keeps stalling and freezing up..terrible !!!!! this is my second roku the first was a roku 2 and it also did this..

We have to reset the device each time before use.

We purchased the device after we had used the Roku 2 for a few months. Compared to the Roku 2, this device is noticeably faster. However, a problem that we never had on the Roku 2, after some time without use the device will play sound slowly, lowering the tone of voice for programs being watched in Netflix and in Hulu. We troubleshooted this through FAQ, but the problem persists unless we reset the device each time before use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works well most of the time, NOT ALWAYS

Most of the time it works well but about once a week it locks up on a channel. All the other channels are fine. A power cycle normally recovers but too often I have to do a factory reset which sucks, everything has to be reprogrammed afterwards. My original Roku almost never did this in years of service.

I have the ROKU stick that came with my JVC TV and it would stop and go blank in the middle of the movie, everything froze. I would have to take the stick out from the tv and replug it twice in one hr. Sometimes I would just give up and watch cable tv. Customer couldn't figure how to fix this problem. This is going on 4 weeks of off and on, maybe the box is better.

Bringing it back to store. The box didn't state that I would have to give credit card info in order to set up/use it. Misleading.

Great features, can't use because of HDMI problems

I love the Roku 3 when it works, but it rarely works. It's always complaining about HDCP problems. I've tried different cables, HDMI hubs, TVs, etc. The common element is always the Roku 3. I don't have this problem with my Roku 1 or any other device (Xbox 360, BluRay players, Apple TV, etc).

Good features.....but didn't seem to work well

We bought this in anticipation of having a good alternative for our cable TV service, since there were few channels we watch anyway. We had the Roku 3 and for the one we had, the audio would just quit working on many of the channels we had subscribed to. Unplugging the Roku 3 for a minute or two and then plugging back in would "fix" the issue for awhile, but did not take long for the problem to reoccur. We ended up returning the Roku for a refund, even though we had already cancelled our TV service.
