I bought our Roku 3 shortly after Christmas so my wife could have access to Nexflix/Amazon in her TV watching room, as we used a PS3 to watch them in the main TV room. I configured it in the main room and it remains there to this day. It's so much more convenient than our old method (it's on instantly) and navigation is speedy, it's easy to navigate & we don't end up with "new update available" messages and installs that take 1/2hr. It's also led me down many a "rabbit hole" watching FAIL videos and other random things found on various channels. There is so much available that we've barely scratched the surface of it.
One thing to remember is that not all content on it is free. You will either need an active cable subscription (or a friend that shares) and there are numerous pay/rent channels. But there is a TON of free content too.
All in all, very satisfied with the purchase. Considering another or a stick for the other room & bedroom now (although it really isn't hard to move if you leave an HDMI cable connected to the tv and just unhook the power and cable and move. I've done that, but i'm a little lazy).

I currently own three Roku's and have given them as gifts as well. I highly recommend them for anyone that has an internet connection. In this house, it would be the only source of television entertainment if it weren't for my husband and his mother. I LOVE MY ROKU'S!!!!!

This was a gift from my son, who knew I was interested in getting a streaming device. I love having access to Netflix, PBS, and Amazon Prime shows. I do wish Roku would develop an interface with Hoopla, which is a public library streaming video service. My other two suggestions for improvement are: create a remote that will accept voice commands, instead of having to type choices; and to make it simpler to return to the top of the menu (i.e., "Recently watched" instead of all the movie genres). The latter is probably a Netflix issue, though. All in all, this is a great device.

I got this for Christmas and found that there more channels that want to charge you a fee every month for access than not. I think that the advertisement found on the box or the site are not readily revealing of how limiting the product really is unless you want to pay astronomical amounts of additional fee's to get access to most of the channels you offer. I am very disappointed in these limits.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My family doesn't really watch tv (using antenna/getting 8 channels), but there are some shows that we would like to see at our convenience without having to subscribe to cable or satellite. My son has a Roku and showed me shows he had access to. Based on his information, I purchased one as a gift for my husband this Christmas (he couldn't believe I bought one) and we have enjoyed picking and choosing the shows that we want to see and when we want to see them.

Bought this instead of cable for a fraction of the monthly cost, Find my self watching better and more interesting shows. Quality is just like cable. Very easy to hook up. The only minor issue is not with Roku, but if you like to channel surf like I do, it is not quite as easy to get from channel to channel, but you do have a remote to get you where you want to go.

received as gift, the main thing I would like to have,showing video from smart phones you can't do with roku, but you can do it with chromecast. canceled cable because of money, most anything you would want to watch on roku is subscription, so not much savings.
