Lots of channels - love the variety!!

My wife bought me a Roku 3 for Christmas and now we're ready to pull the plug on DirecTV. I wish I'd done this a long time ago - saving money will be nice and I won't miss the 100-odd channels that I'm obligated to pay for through satellite and never watch. The old classic sci-fi series are great and there are movie channels galore. What's not to like?

Nice upgrade from Roku 2

I've had Roku 2 for several years and have never had a problem using it. I decided to buy the Roku 3 for three reasons.The first was for the faster streaming. I was amazed by how fast it booted up. My Roku 2, in comparison, seems like it takes forever to get to the home page. My television boots up slower than the Roku 3 but a lot faster than the Roku 2. The second reason for upgrading was the ability to use ear buds so that I can watch a movie,TV program, or listen to music without disturbing anyone else in the room. The last reason is because I can access the new features on Netflix. I have three profiles in my account, one for myself and one for each of my children. We can access our individual profiles with the Roku 3 whereas with the Roku 2 only my profile is available and, unfortunately, the Netflix format is the old one (which I've always found annoying). I do not play games through Roku so that feature with the remote was not a factor in my decision. However, I do like this remote much better. I am very happy with my decision to buy the Roku 3 which, sadly, is installed on the television in the living room. Unfortunately, I "have to" keep Roku 2 for my bedroom television!

I got a Roku 3 for Christmas and I don't know how I watched TV without it before. I have a DVD player that's wifi enabled and it plays DVDs great, but the streaming feature it weak at best. My Roku is always on point! It stays connected and offers a great variety of programming and streaming options. To be honest I really even use my old DVD player anymore. It was a great gift that I'll use for a long time.

I got my Roku 3 as a gift for Christmas and I have to say that I like it alot. The variety is really nice and it supports Netflix, Amazon, and Youtube , which is nice because you aren't limited to only certain channels. The 2 drawbacks which are minor discrepancies, are this: 1.) The Netflix channel is not like the online version where you can select from Genre(if it is, I haven't figured it out yet) 2.) Alot of channels you see from Cable have their own app but you have to already been subscribing on cable to get access to their content, which seems counter-intuitive.
Overall, I love it and the bonus of the iPhone App(allows you to type from your phone) and the ability to listen with earphones from the remote is pretty cool!
I would recommend this to a friend!

We originally bought a Roku 1 on black Friday to try it out and told my parents if we like it then we would like a Roku 3 for Christmas (for the headphone feature) and we would give them the Roku 1. (they don't need the headphones) Totally loved the 1 and love the 3 even more. Games are a cool addition though we don't play them very often. Main purpose for the 3 was the headphones and they are a great addition and they are good quality! Like the title says we are all VERY satisfied with our various Roku players!!! We use the daily.

Overall Great - one missing feature...

The Search function on the home page is the best feature of the Roku 3. The only complaint that I have is that it only seems to include content from MyGo, Vudu, Netflix and Amazon Prime. If what you are searching for is free in Hulu/Plex/other channels it will not show up under the search.
