My husband bought this for a family gift and we are loving it! Cable got to expensive to have movie channels so Roku is great for us.

I bought a roku 2 and a roku 3 as Christmas gifts for my daughter and husband both units were easy to set up and work great. Lots of selection in what to watch too!

Cable TV providers should be running scared

Dropped cable TV and made the transition to Roku and antenna tv back in September- no regrets at all. Saving me $175 a month. Only thing I miss are some live sports - no TNT - for the NBA- but that's it. You can get an app that allows you to access your music on Google Play thus allowing you to have access to all your music in the cloud, which you can play through speakers linked to your tv. Also there is an app to access your photos on Google Picassa- a great slide show across your flat screen

Meets all needs

My wife and I decided to cut cable out. We bought a Roku and dove in. We already had Netflix and Amazon Prime but added Hulu to stay more current. This has been such a fantastic solution to lowering bills. The device is easy to use, small and unobtrusive and because the remote works on a radio frequency you can hide the little box almost anywhere.
Streaming music channels really complete the package. I'm very impressed with the very wide selection of entertainment, from cutting edge technology news, TED talks, children's channels and world news the Roku really does have something for everyone.

Making Dumb TVs Smart

We didn't invest in a "smart tv" when we got our LCD a few years ago. Getting the Roku 3 makes our old "dumb" tv work like the smart tvs - and then some. The ear buds in the remote is an extra nice feature - especially for us night owls who want to stream our shows into the wee hours.
Extremely easy to set up - just have your passwords handy for the different streaming services you want to access.
The small footprint of the device is very inconspicuous next to my sound bar.
After hooking up the Roku my teenage son (Dr. Who fan) has been soaking up hours of streaming seasons. Nice to see him in the living room again instead of squirreled away in his room, watching on his laptop.
Lastly, we've officially cut the ties to satellite and cable. We have over the air free tv and the Roku has really made that transition super easy since it gives us access to watch so much. Goodbye big satellite bills. Hello extra cash! - the cost of the Roku itself was less than one month on satellite.

Pure Awesomeness!!!!

I fell in love with the first generation Rokus. As time went I I thought it would be good to cut the Roku out and I bought a smart TV. That was a mistake the Smart TV did not perform well and the interface was clumsy. This past Christmas I was gifted a Roku 3. The amonunt of extra channels, the games and the very responsive interface makes this play the best there ever was.... at least until a Roku 4 is created.....
