Although, I did like the updated feature of a headset, I did not like the way the updated screen interfaced with Netflix. When watching the last minute of a series episode, the screen would collasped into a small box at the top left of the screen. While the remaining screen gave a countdown to the next episode. It was very distracting and frustraing. Eventhough the episode I was watching hadn't concluded it automatically forwarded to the next episode.
I returned the Roku 3 and purchased the Roku 2, which also has a headset. I can now watch the entire episodes of a series. It is also a great feature to have the headset.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy to use and fun!

I received this as a Christmas present this year, and love it! It was incredibly easy to set up, and it makes my Netflix viewing that much more fun since I get to watch it on my tv.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was hesitant to spend so much money for yet another gadget for the TV/Computer but I'm glad I did. I was tired of trying to watch movies, photos, etc. on my computer screen and wanted to be freed up from sitting in front of the computer. Why not try the ROKU I thought. Glad I did! Excellent picture and sound, a breeze to set up, very tiny footprint, a large selection of available channels, and it can even manage and stream your own photos and media from your computer. I am enjoying the ROKU every evening and can now watch streaming movies from the comfort of my easy-chair. ...... "best thing since sliced bread"!
I would recommend this to a friend!

No live TV

It may have been a mistake from my part, but I thought that Roku would provide me with access to (at least some) live streaming broadcasts, that is not the case except for a couple of WSJ bulletins.

Once started smooth operation

Unfortunately, I always get an error message on my TV, a 7 year old Toshiba 47in lcd.
Something about content unauthorized. At first I thought it was Netflix and I complained to them. Netflix came up with a simple fix of turning Roku on and off, essentially rebooting the device.
I have to do this with all the channels, not just netflix.

Other than having to reboot Roku every time I start viewing, it works fine.

Interesting Technology....hard to find anything to

I was given a Roku 3 for Christmas. After a month and a half, I continue to struggle to find anything worthwhile to watch. I'll most likely continue to rely mainly on my local cable service.

I use the Roku 3 when on my treadmill to overcome the boredom. Having an audio output function for a headset on the remote control allows me to not disturb others in the house. There is no audio out port on the Roku to tie into my surround sound system so the purchase of an "audio extractor" was an important additional purchase to enhance the effectiveness of the player when not using a headset. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Great… but could be better...

This is a good product…What would make it better is: quite a few of the apps available for the Roku 3 need to be linked to your television service provider.
I have Direct TV, and many of the apps. do not allow linking to Direct TV, So I have to remove the app. since it will not work for me. The apps that do link, and need no link are fabulous.
