Great gift - bought myself one after...

I bought a Roku 2 for a Christmas gift and after helping set it up decided to buy a Roku 3 for myself. I like the fact that it is always on, its Search function (although I wish it searched more than just Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon and Vudu), the headphone jack on the remote and the ability to choose a Netflix profile (which my Blu-ray player can not). I feel like I am a little late to the game, so I missed out on the free version of Plex but it seems to have room to expand without being a full-on computer.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought one of these for my wife for a present - then went back to the store and bought another. I didn't expect it to work on our slowish DSL Internet connection but it has been excellent. Cable is mostly rubbish nowadays, but with the Roku we watch what we want w/o having to sifting through tons of trash to find something worth watching!

I tried other media players, NetGear initially because of the price and then WD Live TV because of the brand name. I gave them both back disappointed with each product and the technology. So I decided to give one more media player the go and the Roku 3 was highly recommended online. I can't say enough good things about it; one of the best technology items I've ever purchased. I'm so glad Roku got it right where others have failed. The remote is simple, easy to use and I like that it does not work with infrared and you don't have to point it at the box. The only negative thing I would say is that I wish more free games were available (or perhaps a trial period to see if you like it before you buy).

upgraded way of streaming

I say this is an upgrade, because I no longer have to use my computer to stream media (movies, music, lectures). We do not have a television, but now stream directly to a LCD projector and stereo (which did require us to purchase an HDMI to VGA converter as our old tech is VGA and ROKU is HDMI. Regarding the cell phone interface (for BB10): it does not have enough features to make it useful/worthwhile. It would be wonderful to have a more powerful search function on the interface and a WEB browser (for example, I have not figured out how to get into comedy central or how to access the regular hulu). This is not primarily a ROKU issue, but I wish there were a way to access some cable channel programing (even for subscription fees) such as ESPN when I am do not have cable or dish. I missed the college football bowl games.

Let me start with I purchased 3 in the end. I reviewed Apple TV and roku 3 side by side and for me there was no choice roku hands down. I don't have a lot of iTunes stuff so that was not in the evaluation. Super easy to use and the number of channels and apps give you lots of choices. The picture is perfect all the time and we have no buffering. Great solution.

I was a little hesitant at first worrying about the quality but after testing it for a while now, all the worries are laid to rest. Great little product which streams a awesome picture quality! I was so happy with the quality I recommended Roku to a friend and he ended up purchasing a Roku 3 as well. Highly recommend to anyone wanting lots of viewing choices.

Installed easily and works great. You have to watch for Gatchas in the movies and some extras that try to horn in like M-GO and other Lizzards. Can get more stations than Cox Cable.

Excellent exprience

My roku has delivered on its promises and given me great viewing experience. My only complaint is that Roku does not have a youtube application. Also the roku remote does not have a keypad. This makes typing hard. But I installed the android roku app on my smartphone and this solved the typing issue.
