I don;t use my roku 3 as it does not have closed captioning.

Bought this so I could "Watch ESPN", NHL ands MLB networks etc. online. It looked like a good opportunity to down grade my cable bill and to watch these and other programming and movies online. Unfortunately Time Warner Cable required me to UPGRADE my cable and internet package to "Watch ESPN". then you need the NHL package and or the MLB package from your cable provider to watch these also. I was also surprised that ROKU offered network programs of ABC, CBS and NBC but was going to charge me $1.99 per episode to watch something that I can get free online.
oh well it was worth a look.
ON THE PLUS SIDE: I purchased the
Roku 3 and the streaming and picture were excellent. set up was fairly easy. I may look again at it in the future...........

Easy to Use and Navigate

Roku is the easiest way to enjoy streaming content. I would recommend that you get the Roku 3 version because a user can use the Ethernet cable to wire it directly to the router and avoid WiFI reception glitches. This is especially important when streaming HD material.

defective out of box

Streaming did not work. Tech support at Roku was very helpful but concluded that the device was defective and needed to be returned. Hopefully the new device will work as well as promised.

Excellent capability!

I bought this after the holidays when it was on sale and have fallen in love with this product. I am even considering purchasing another one for my bedroom. The wi-fi streaming with netflix works amazingly even though its more than 20 feet away. I can also connect my external hard drive and watch videos from it right to my television.
I would recommend this to a friend!

$100.00 to enable me to pay for every channel!, I don't think so, I returned with-in two hours. The usb slot is only good for showing photos.

Reason I bought Roku doesn't work...

I bought the Roku because of the SlingPlayer channel, but after setting it up I find you need a smart phone to actually view the channel on tv. If I had known this prior to my purchase I would not have spent the money on the Roku
