BETTER TV!

I bought the ROKU3 for myself for Christmas and love it! It opened up a whole new TV world for me. I'm a little late to the whole streaming world but 100% happy with ROKU. I still have not touched all the functions yet. Great buy and the best features of any streamer on the market hands down!

Less enthused than most

Admittedly, am not your average user. But this device is not capable of streaming recorded TV shows, movies, my pictures, my music unless I am willing to load a third party software program on another computer in the house and leave that device on all the time. There are other media streamers with superior abilities in this regard. Sadly, the Roku hardware is very capable, but the developers have neglected to incorporate this ability into the device. This would have been a nice reason to "step up" to the Roku 3 instead of the Roku 2. I wish I had spent a few dollars more and purchased an xBox 360.

Roku 3 much better than Amazon fire

I have a roku xd and I bought an Amazon fire believing that it would be better. Not so much. I hated the fire. I sent it back. I bought a rodu 3. I am very happy with my roku 3. It is head and shoulders above the fire. The roku 3 is much faster. No waiting for apps to load. You are not locked in like a web enabled bluray player or other device.

I found that it works well with my wireless network, but there were some issues. These were all resolved when I wired it to the router. We have dumped the cable TV and are not missing anything.

Extend the use of my TV

I am so glad I finally purchased a Roku. The fact that there is an app for TWC was the tipping point. I am able to now view broadcasting -- like premium channels -- on other TVs in my house rather than pay a monthly fee for another STB PLUS I can stream netlix to my non-smart TVs.

Disappointed

I bought the Roku 3 in hoping that the while watching tv that it would not search as much or interrupt our shows. Then getting the message constantly please try again and then have to start the show all over again has not been too rewarding.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
