We first bought Netgear Push2TV and while it did work the picture was poor and we had numerous problems. The Roku was plug and play and the picture is superb everthing goes through our surround sound system it is like night and day from NetGear. I would buy this again and would highly recommend it to anyone.

User friendly, Easy setup, great content

I have had the Roku 3 for approximately 2 months with no problems encountered. Was a bit of a frustration when I needed to talk to a tech rep who evidently was not American. It was difficult to understand him due to his accent. That said the issue was resolved in a timely manner (I could not find the Slingbox app in the Roku store).
I would recommend this to a friend!

Nearly Perfect

I have loved the Roku3 so far. The only reason I deduct a star is for lack of volume control. Seems like something Roku could add, there is even a dedicated volume button on the remote, but it only works when you're listening with headphones. Roku: the chromecast can control volume via HDMI, why can't the Roku? Even adding an IR output to the Roku remote to control volume on my TV would be acceptable. Because of the lack of volume control, I need to keep another remote around.
That said, the video playback is exceptional. Paired with the Plex app, I have a great way to give slideshows of my photos, listen to my music and watch my personal videos selection. Well done Plex team creating a great Roku app.

FInally, a decent streaming player

I've had this bout a month now, and it is fantastic. The RF remote is nice - you do not need line of sight to the Roku to use it, unlike infrared remotes. The "channel" listings cover all of the major players - any lack of content on some of those is no fault of the Roku (History channel and Smithsonian come to mind). The player sets up quickly and is very responsive - there is no perceived lag. I do have this connected to a hard wired Ethernet cable back to one of my WRT-54G routers running DD-WRT as a Repeater-Bridge. That ueses wireless to the main access point and from there to the cable modem.
One issue with any of these streamers is the lack of local TV coverage. In addition, some providers (notably the NFL) do not stream live - this is a big mistake on their parts. Some of these require (oddly) a cable provider subscription. I am sure this will change over time.
Anyway, those things aside (for those shopping) - this player is what you are looking for.

I bought this so I could reduce my Direct TV usage. I prefer movies and usually DVR other shows anyway. I LOVE this product. It works great and was easy to set up.

Fast!

I have got two roku 3, after I did buy the first device, I had to compare it with the smart dvd player and only by using netflix, I would say it is about five times faster, besides both being connected by a cat 5(ethernet cable), so I did take the risk of buying a second for the tv on the first floor and it would be connected by using wi-fi, and it is not as fast as the ethernet connection, but it is about three times faster than the smart dvd player! Add another headphones outlet and make the remote rechargeable!
