I hate TV commercials and would rather watch old TV reruns via Netflix. Commercials consume 20 minutes of a (supposedly) 60 minute show. Ridiculous. I WAS EXSTATIC WHEN I REALIZED EARBUDS FOR THE REMOTE ARE INCLUDED ... SO, IF THE WIFE FALLS ASLEEP IN BED I CAN REMAIN COZY AND WATCH SHOOT 'EM UP JUNK WITHOUT BOTHERING HER. WOO-HOO! Major plus.
Pros: Earbuds On The Remote

[This review is for the new Roku 3, not the overall Roku experience (which I'm sure you can find anywhere)]. I've been using a Roku 2 XD for a little over a year (Dish started giving them out for free to placate subscribers who were angry at the loss of AMC). As soon as I plugged in the original, I was an instant fan. I recently bought a new TV and needed some way of getting media to my upstairs bedroom. The 3 seemed an obvious purchase, but I wondered if it was really going to be much better. ABSOLUTELY. 1. This little baby is FAST--much more than the 2. The upgraded processors on the inside make all the difference, even with streaming/buffering speed, both from my main computer and from services like Netflix. Every app loads 3x as fast at least, and scrolling through shows on Netflix, for example, is easily 3x faster, if not more. 2. The remote is RF, not IR, so you don't need line-of-sight, and that makes all the difference. I used to have trouble getting remote response on the 2, even with good line-of-sight, and that's never an issue anymore. I also prefer using the remote to the iOS remote app now, even though I always have my phone on me (unlike my remote), because using it on the new Roku is SO much snappier. It's a real joy to use, especially with the new software Roku beamed out recently. There are also gaming features that I guess some people might use (I never have and have no desire to), but the headphone jack on the remote is a pretty cool idea. I haven't tested it yet, though. The Roku is still my favorite media streaming option, because the interface is just beautiful. Between the box, Netflix/Amazon Prime, and Plex (GAME-CHANGING app to stream ANYTHING from your computer to your TV), I finally recently discontinued my satellite TV subscription, and I haven't looked back since. If you have a Roku already, this may not be worth buying to REPLACE it, but my old one lagged so bad that it would be worth it to me even if I hadn't purchased a second TV. If you have one already and want to add more in your house, get this for your main TV and place your old Rokus on TVs elsewhere in the house. Side note: Customer Service was pretty fantastic the one time I had issues...nothing would stream. As it turns out, my wireless Turtle Beach headset base/transmitter was right next to my Roku and interfering with the wireless signal. Connecting this via ethernet would eliminate that issue, or just separate the two by at least two feet.
Pros: Better Remote Reception, Faster

Aside from the fact that it freezes when I don't use it for over a week, this has been a great alternative to connecting my aging laptop to the TV with a clumsy and unsightly HDMI cord. I wish I could play Pandora AND Angry Birds at the same time, and YouTube was an option, but maybe soon!??!! Great investment so far (April 2013)
Pros: Fast Setup, Easy to use, Simple Controls, Variety
Cons: Needs Reset Often, Must Turn On Regularly

...because you're going to need it. Roku falls way short of expectations with poor picture quality and an awkward interface. The tech folks are good to work with and very helpful. We're working to improve our Roku experience...however, if we can't get picture quality and streaming speed equal to our blue ray, we're going to box up the Roku up and get our money back.
