it provides all of the channels I wanted to access

I bought this unit with the sole purpose of accessing one channel. It works very well and the other features are a nice bonus. The easy access I now have was well worth the price of the unit.

Easy to use

I am not a tech person and have not had TV for 12 years. It was very easy to install and super easy to use. All instructions are on screen, step by step and simple to follow. It seems as if a large purchase up front, especially if you have to buy a wireless router, but in the end if you are paying for any sort of TV service the savings in even 1 year is significant.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I no longer have a monthly bill to watch t.v.and have much many more choices. I have saved so much money which I am able to save or splurge on things I could not have before. Being able to watch what I want when I want without having to record is great! I have "rabbit ears" to receive local channels but I hardly ever watch "regular" television because the countless commercials are so annoying. Thank you Roku!

Unreliable

Not really happy of my purchase. The idea was to connect the Roku to my home theatre system but when connected to my projector it displays a HDCP error so I had to switch back to my Apple TV which is working fine but is very limited.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The best media steaming device thus far

I have all of the streaming devices: AppleTV, Amazon FireTV, ChromeCast, and Roku 3. Of all of them, I use Roku 3 and Apple TV the most.
ChromeCast is limited since I need to "cast" to it using my phone/tablet/TV. So its use is limited.
Well, my AppleTV is rooted and has aTV install so that I can use it as a media streamer for my NAS. Other than that, I never use it for anything else. A one trick pony that cost money.
Amazon FireTV is fast, but it is not as intuitive as Roku. Its voice search is awesome, but only returns search in its own library, not anywhere else. I have sideloaded XBMC on it. For that it works. But too many steps. Still prefer my hacked AppleTV for that task.
Roku 3, on other hand, is fast and easy to use. Even my elderly father can use it. It has lots of useful channels with great content. I use it to watch Netflix, Hulu Plus, Youtube, Red Eye, etc... I feel I am really getting my money's worth for it.
The only downside is media streaming from my NAS. If it has a channel where it can steam all my movies from my home NAS, then I will have no problem selling all my other devices and use Roku exclusively. Alas, for now, that feature does not exist. One can hope, right?
