should've bought this first instead of an apple tv

The ability to use earphones with the remote is the best idea in the history of remotes! My wife is a very light sleeper and this feature is perfect!!! I think any and all TV/entertainment remotes should have this feature. The Roku channel selections are more than enough. Apple Tv finally includes the UFC channel as of late but Roku has had it all along. My only complaint is some of the button functionality (most noticeably with YouTube) and also unit/picture freezing to the point of having to unplug the Roku. This has only happened twice so far (and with YouTube) so not a big deal in my book. If Roku would make the earphones available for the TV audio also this would be quite the perfect product.

A well thought out device

Very easy to set up and use. I think the software updates itself even when the device is not in use (as it is always on; when not in use it goes into a "sleep" mode). The menu is very intuitive. Just remember to select at the menu Settings => Display type => 1080p HDTV, as it comes with the setting 720p HDTV as default. It's fast, but remember the Roku 3 is not a stick.

It's nice to have. May be an alternative to cable tv. Like the apps but it would be nice to access more apps like on the apple App Store or google play.

It's ok if you have Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO GO, but the additional channels aren't part interesting

One Device To Rule Them All

I've bought three Roku 3 devices and could not be happier with my purchase. The Roku 3 is leaps and bounds better than their previous installment. The Roku 3 is jam packed with entertainment covering television, movies, and games. I only wish I could access my Network Access Device where I keep my TV, Movie, and Music files but with PLEX installed I could simply move the files to a server and call it a day. I highly recommend the Roku 3, I've been without cable/satellite television going on 7 years now and the Roku has played a very important part of the "cord cutting" arsenal.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Recently purchased my Roku 3. I hesitated to install thinking it would be time consuming; it was a breeze.
I selected the Roku 3 vs. 2 or the stick due to the easy searching feature which searches across ALL streaming service providers. What a time saver.
What's more, consumer's reports favorably reviewed the Roku 3.
Great price, tiny footprint, EZ install, simple to operate, remote doesn't require a line of sight to operate; in short, you can point it in any direction and it works.

Absolutely love our Roku 3! Easy to set up and use. Streaming is flawless. For a couple months, we connected our laptop to the TV for streaming Netflix. Most times we had buffering issues or video delay; extremely aggravating. Not one issue with the Roku 3! Offers tons of channel apps for endless entertaining. The device is nicely compact and black. Highly recommend!
