The speed is much faster than our blue ray player apps. Wish it had an option to search by voice as does the Amazon Fire box.

Bought this a month ago to stream video over my network from my media server. Hard wired it to my router, installed plex and it plays .avi, mkv, and other formats in hd flawlessly. Very easy to use and setup, did not even need to read any insrtuctions.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love the options of genre and the selection available between all the apps, but it makes it nearly impossible to find a single program. The interface that selects available movies, etc., is not refined enough to make the selection process quick and simple. Everyone in my household agrees: by the time you finish sorting through all the shows available, you are no longer interested in watching TV. The ROKU has actually caused me to start reading again LOL Setting up on all the different apps is frustrating, there is no easy way of entering your user name and password (on screen keyboard used with a single button pointer). Some of the apps are buggy.

Bought this a few weeks ago and I love it. It works so much better than the two smart tv's I own. There aren't any hiccups in the streaming of movies, everything loads super fast, it's just a really sweet little gadget.

I purchased the Roku 3 right after Thanksgiving. Previously, I had a Google Chromecast, but wanted Amazon Prime on one device instead of switching from the Wii to Chromecast (Amazon Prime to Netflix). With the additional channel/ app selections, the Roku 3 blows the Chromecast away. The menu is easy to navigate. My kids easily learned the navigation. I also like the ability to plug in headphones to the remote for movie watching after the kids go to bed.
The Roku 3 is a breeze to connect to a TV. The only time needed is setting up an account with the some of the apps, but the Roku 3 remembers the information for any setups thereafter.
A lot of the apps require a cable subscription for full use, but there is plenty of other choices to get your movie watching fix.
