The Roku is great except you can't get the Disney channel or Espn unless you have cable and the reason I bought it was to get rid of cable

Have owned a ROKU for several years, but this version is greatly improved. Easy to set up and simple to use, it is fabulous .

I love my Roku because it is faster than my Tivo to access Netflix and Amazon Video. I mostly use those two channels.
I've encountered an HDMI error where only sound comes through. Switching ports usually solves it, but it simply shouldn't happen.

Sorry but I don't find anything special about the Roku 3. I already have a chromecast and tend to use it much more than the roku3.

A Real Alternative to Traditional Channel Surfing

I have been through the traditional cable and satellite choices. With DVR and pay per view they remained an expensive approach that depends on catching the original broadcast. We decided to eliminate the costs of this approach, keeping the internet side. The results have been excellent when combining an antenna for a few key local stations and the Roku which has been a joy to use and allowed us to start moving through series we have loved, special offerings and movies we missed. Our costs will be a good bit under 50% per year including two Roku 3 and the monthly streaming services fees.

The remote is more fragile than you'd think

I have three Roku 3 boxes now. We're careful with the remotes, we don't drop them, but I have had to replace one after just more than a year of operation. The Roku system itself is all we expect. We mostly use it to stream content from our Plex Media server, but also from the PBS channel, Netflix and a couple of other places. It works quite well for all of that.
