I love this device but I really wished it had an audio output so I could hook it up to my surround sound. I bought the device so I could watch theBlaze. I'm amazed how fast it is.
I would recommend this to a friend!

You asked me...................

I want to say that I've been happily using my ROKU XD for years with no problem. I puchased two ROKU 3's and returned both. I loved them when they worked!!! The first was great for almost a week- then the earphones would cut out, the remote would freeze and I'd have to take the batteries out. At the end this happend several times in one day. Since the earbud remote was the reason I upgaded from my XD I returned it for a repacement. The replacement did the same thing on the first day. I returned it for a refund. Just my luck, I guess. Iknow it's great for a lot of people, but that was my experience...........
Pros: Simple Controls, Fast Setup, Attractive Design, Improved Audio/Video
Cons: Froze Continually

Great Streaming Product

I must say it was very easy to set up, my 9 year old son set it up himself in 20 min. Also, very easy to add channels. The Only thing I did not like is that you will have to use your computer to sign up for any channel. I was looking for one section where I can find all free channels is not there. The new feature of audio plugin located on the remote is the best!! youtube is missing!!
Pros: Compact, High quality picture, Built in Wi-Fi, Easy to use, Privatesilent Mode, Easy to set up, Reliability, Video selection, Great value
Cons: Need fast internet service, Very few free channels
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very disappointed

I am very disappointed and I feel like an idiot for not knowing better about the hidden charges to watch shows. I did some online research about Roku and the reviews were great, but it seemed a bit odd that the reviews all said how WELL it worked, but not HOW it worked. I thought Roku would search the internet to find shows I wanted to watch, such as when I wanted to watch an episode I missed on a current broadcast network show or watch a series on a non-premium cable show (like Burn Notice) and let me watch them for free. I can go to NBC's web site on my computer and pick any show and watch episodes for free (with commercials). However, I haven't found a way to do that on Roku. You can search for a specific show, but it always takes you to a special 'channel' with extra charges. In fact, it seems that everything worthwhile is an extra charge to watch except PBS (hooray for them!). I do not want to pay $ an episode to watch a show, or $ every month to watch unlimited shows on a specific 'channel' such as Netflix. Some Roku 'channels' have a yearly 'pass' of $-$. That can add up quickly, especially if there are only a couple things worth watching per channel. Bottom line is that Roku is very simple to use and works well, but I have only watched one show in 2 months because I am not about to pay an extra fee for EACH episode of (for example) the 2 seasons of Burn Notice I missed. What you get with Roku is a more convenient way to watch a more limited number of shows than you could if you used your computer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not as good as I had heard

I heard this would be great to use instead of cable. My house is very small, my other wireless devices work great anywhere in the house, however the ROKU continuously tells me that the internet is not connected. I need to unplug it prior to using it to re-set it, if it does work, generally half way through a program it will stop and tell me the internet isn't working or take approximately 3-4 minutes to load. The remote stopped working after about 3 weeks, I programmed my ipad to work as a remote... I am very disappointed with all aspects of the product. I wouldn't encourage anyone to purchase at this point.
Pros: Simple Controls
Cons: Poor Design, Difficult setup
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great player except no Youtube-bad captions

I am very pleased except no connection to Youtube. Display is clear but closed captions are light yellow and hard to read. I have some hearing problems and need good CC words. The light yellow is hard to see and the size can't be adjusted. I should have done more research and bought another device with better captions and Youtube. It was foolish on your part to leave off Youtube. You should give us a way to upgrade these 2 problems and you would have the #1 player on the market
