I was skeptical at first

After being a slave to cable for decades a roommate encouraged me to try the Roku 3 box. It was the best investment I ever made. The choices are mind bogling So much better than the hundreds of useless channels on cable. Before I knew it I was ready to drop down to basic cable and stream away

Good at first...

I was an early adopter of the Roku 3. Initially, it presented itself as a high end product with excellent features and snappy load times. I especially appreciate the headphone jack in the remote. Over the past few months, however, performance has become sluggish and the Roku intermittently loses connection with the remote and has to be restarted, which is especially annoying because I have it mounted behind the TV in an inconvenient location. Further, my apps seem to crash much more frequently and the fact that I only have a few channels I use makes this even more painful (in addition to several factory resets). This is most likely more on the developer end than Roku's, but irritating nonetheless,especially when you consider that this is fairly new hardware.
All things considered, I have a love /hate relationship with my Roku 3. When it works, it is excellent, but the recent issues I am having are unacceptable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

listening with the ear buds

I especially like listening with the ear buds that connect to the Roku device so I'm not disturbing others while I'm watching a show. I turn up the volume while I'm doing a cardio workout but no one else hears the audio.

Needed Something Faster Than the Streaming Stick

I have 2 elder Toshibas that just couldn't quite keep up with the downloads so decided to try Roku 3. Problem solved. :D

Mostly OK

I am happy to finally cut the cable cord, but there are definitely trade-offs. Sometimes the streaming lags or freezes. The most frustrating thing for me is the search feature--there really should be a full alpha key on the remote.

My husband gave this to me for my birthday and I love it. I am able to watch Netflix, Youtube, etc. on my tv and I am really enjoying it.
