Really happy with my Roku 3

This is a great device. I had the first generation and it was good, but they've made real improvements to the performance and software for the Roku 3. I only use Amazon Instant Video, but the downloads are fast, and I've never had a film or TV program re-buffer during playback. The menu is improved, too. The remote has a socket for earphones (supplied) and, while these are generally good, the sound can be a bit scratchy at times. I use them late at night so as not to bother others with a loud program. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. (4.5 stars, one half-star lost for sound problems on the remote.)

I bought the Roku to compare with other alternatives. It is my new favourite. There are more than enough channels and it is easy to set up and use.
But most of all the I am impressed the speed of the apps and the quality of the picture.

Just love my (two) Roku 3

I have one for my living room and one for my bedroom. I got so tired of my cable TV but I do have cable Internet and this has made a world of difference of my watching TV privileges. Who need a DVR when you have Roku 3??

Good alternative to satellite

We are pleased so far with our Roku. There are not a lot of free channels with it that offer what we are interested in, but are satisfied with our subscription to Netflix and Hulu. It has saved us money and get to watch what we want when we want. There are very few ads to deal with and when there is an ad, the volume is not blaring like they did with our satellite.

Continuous Play is Nice!

We had a Roku HD prior to purchasing the Roku 3. It was nice but did lag a bit with the wireless connection and as it got older, we had some difficulty with the power cord positionally cutting out.
What I like about the Roku 3 is that this model allows you to input the connection directly or use wireless if hard wiring isn't available. We choose to hard wire because our wifi is garbage.
Less lag time when you don't have to load and transmit across the house.
Secondly, I really like that this model has the option of continuous play (times about 3 episodes before it understandably requires you to verify that you are still watching and haven't left or fallen asleep.)
Third cool feature is that the remote allows you to insert head phones if you want to watch quietly while your partner sleeps.
It is taking some getting used to, but the "OK" button is not in the middle of the directional arrow pad. I prefer it that way, but I will take what I can get.
Overall, it works pretty well. I think part of the lag we occasionally experience coincides with the amount of people as a whole streaming from netflix or amazon prime since it happens during peak viewing hours. I would bet the fault lies within bandwidth limits.
