We've had our Roku in service for almost two months and are extremely happy with this purchase. Installation and set-up was easy. The device is fast and provides many great features. Previously we had been streaming Netflix through our Wii gaming console which was problematic in many ways.

So far I love my Roku. It's easy to operate, and the captions are large enough to read! I especially like the way it is setup to go where you want to go in a short time.

I love how fast my Plex collection loads. I love the no-line-of-sight-needed remote control. I love the sound through the remote. That being said, its new setup is definitely more convoluted than the 2 is. The remote responds via wi-fi, and if it doesn't pair up as it should, you'll be in for some Googling. Plus, I suspect it uses lots of battery power. I had the batteries die late one night and the sound came blasting through the TV! I had to unplug the unit, since the remote could no longer do anything. I prefer the Netflix interface on the 2 as well, I'm not a fan of auto-playing the next episode, and Netflix itself has required re-authentication a few times. Once it made me replace my HDMI cable before it would play.
All that said, I still prefer the 3's speed and extra features over the 2.

I have installed my Roku 3 about a month ago and without a doubt am trill that I did. There are so many choices on what I want to watch and I added a local antenna and now I get more choices than I ever had with my old cable company.

Simple and Fast Setup

I bought the Roku3 to replace a less-expensive media player I had acquired from Asus a few years ago. It had its quirks, but was usable. After having the Roku almost a month, I regret not having gone with Roku to start.
The interface is sleek and simple. Very easy to work with. Channel setup is quite intuitive.
I am considering "severing the cord" and dropping my paid television services and the Roku's ability to work with a nearly all of the major streaming services (free and subscription) will make that move easier.
My one complaint though is the interfacing with local media. I bought this because I generally stream media from my local home server or off a USB device. Neither work out-of-the-box and I had to Google a bit for that to get going. I had to install the Roku Media Player channel to play media off USB-attached storage. I think that should have been installed by default. To access my server media, I settled on PLex, which seems to be the up-and-coming star of media servers (they have their server and client software available for a variety of OSes and devices). Once I was done setting up those two items, I was thoroughly pleased with the Roku3.
I am now considering getting a Roku3 for each room where there is a TV.
