Love the remote headphones

Two things that I don't like are first that there are no parental controls and the second it is that so many of the providers that I have looked at so far do not not have great selections and they repeat the commercials over and over again.

Stupid Remote Control, Annoying Motion Graphics

I'd like the Roku a whole lot better if they'd bother to make a decent remote. As it is, it is THE WORST-DESIGNED REMOTE CONTROL EVER!! It is tiny, like made for the hands of a 4-year-old child. The buttons are not sensibly laid out and desired controls are in unintuitive locations. It's easy to hit the wrong button in the dark, accidentally finding yourself signed out of Netflix, and having to spend forever getting back to where you were. Also idiotic is the unnecessary motion graphics on the screen that repeatedly play the same 3 pictures over and over and over and over again, while you're trying to read and focus on picking a movie below. Plus the imbecilic "If you're in the mood for dark movies, this is perfect for you!" messages that purport to give some kind of summary of the movie, but just turn out to be mindless comments repeated ad nauseam elsewhere. Very poorly done overall.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Regret buying

I bought this Roku 3 months ago. I got this one specifically so I could use ethernet and avoid any wifi streaming problems. At first it was great. But now it doesn't work. None of the channels I put on it load. Not even the free ones, like TED. It just says on the "loading" screen. $100 down the drain.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Frequently need to be reset

Overall I like the Roku, but every couple days it freezes up and I am forced to unplug it in order to reset it. It was super easy to set up (and I am not an electronics person at all) and its use is very intuitive. The search function is a little annoying since you have to arrow around to enter each letter one by one (old Nintendo style). Some shows or movies take awhile to load, but that is more likely a problem with my internet speed and not the Roku itself, so that is not taken into account in my rating.

Great option to cable TV

I've had Roku for a few months, and have not yet explored it fully. I'm very happy with what I have so far, and will expand my use, as I learn more.

Not as advertised

I bought the Roku specifically so that I could listen to programs using the remote headphone plug. But since day 1 it has not worked right. I can get about 2 minutes of listening then it cuts in and out and finally out. What a waste.
