We had been using the Smart Hub in our tv but it was very slow and there was no upgrade path to speed it up internally. The Roku speeds around the internet and makes using it to get to content a pleasure.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is our third Roku (for three TV's in our home). The product is easy to setup, works flawlessly and video quality is excellent.

We bought this product because we do not have cable. It has been a great replacement. It streams Hulu Plus with no problem. Netflix streams ok, a couple times it has not worked but when we go back in about 5 minutes it will work. I am a little disappointed with having to have a cable provider in order to get many of the channels. I bought it in place of cable, so when I go on to watch something I expect to be able to watch whatever is on there without having to have a cable provider but overall it has been a great product for us. We love it.

Very close to perfect...

It does everything as advertised, and very quickly! The cross-channel search is the reason I bought it and it's miraculous.
However, a few annoying flaws which I hope they'll correct and soon.
1. No bluetooth access so I can use a keyboard.
2. Reasonably frequent freezes or crashes, requiring unplugging of the unit to reboot. However, it does reboot quickly, which is nice.

Also, and I don't know why this happens, I have several channels (like Lifetime and other big-name networky channels) that won't run. They try to launch and don't make it. Deleting and reinstalling doesn't fix it. They just refuse to run.
I do prefer Apple TV's browsing interface for Netflix, but otherwise (and especially if 1 and 2 above were fixed), this is a much superior box.

Just put a treadmill in the basement and will be putting our 3rd Roku unit with it! It is just an awesome device, and it ranks ahead of other similar devices.
