Great new features!

My daughter came to visit and brought me a gift. A new Roku 3. I love all the new features. I don't have cable and only use my Roku. This new version gives me access to lots of great new channels. PLUS a remote control that I can plug my headphones in?! Fantastic! Highly recommend this product.

problems staying connected

I bought this about a month ago. I was pleased with the many features and it's easy to use. However I got so frustrated with it always losing connection that I went back to using my Sony HD DVD player. They both use the same wireless internet, so I don't know why the Roku won't stay connected.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This device is great and it works better then my smart, for some reason I have connectivity problems with my smart TV that I don't see in my Roku

I love the Roku 3 I was not too sure about it at first but now it is very easy to install and works very good, anyone thinking of trying this I would say take a chance you will be happy you did.

Not really for anyone with a SmartTV

Let me start with what I consider the downside. We cut the cable cord over a year and bought a SmartTV that of course streams the biggies (Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Amazon) and some of the middies (VUDU, MGo). The only thing I didn't like was being able to see the NBC/CBS/ABC shows (we chose not to pay Hulu fee). Now of course I could watch most of those shows on laptop and I can hook laptop up up to TV and watch but that is a pain and of course no remote. So when Roku 3 came out I decided to go ahead and invest in it, not for the gazillion of channels it claims but to be able to stream the shows from the major networks that I missed. I 3clearly didn't understand how Roku3 worked as well guess what it doesn't stream. Yep the major networks so I was no better off than I was before with my SmartTV (I mean really who watches all those gazillion channels). Now to where we start to transition into where the Roku 3 is soooo worth the money.
It did allow me to stream HBO Go to my SmartTV and that alone gave me pause before returning it. I mean GoT back on TV without having to hook up laptop is a big plus. AND then I remembered that a while back I had ordered PlayOn and received a ChromeCast (which I hate as there is no remote so only used one day). I downloaded the PlayON app for Roku 3 and booya there are the major networks with all the shows (if the network streams it to their own websites) that I wanted. So yes buddy the Roku 3 rocks. We use it all the time.
What I think will be a better purchase for most folks is the Roku 2 though. Anyone who has a SmartTV doesn't need a Roku 3 to stream unless like me they were looking for the main channels (and let's face it anyone who has bought a TV in the last 3 years has a SmartTV). My understanding is that the Roku 2 hooks up to analog TVs. As that is what is still in my bedroom I am so looking forward to being able to stream Netflix there. I'll be sure and review there.
So overall I'd say if you have a service such as PlayOn then the Roku 3 is worth a 5 if not only a 3 as you can get the biggies on your SmartTV without it.

The perfect reason to cut the cord and drop cable. Slick UI makes it very easy to use. Great video quality and some really nice apps. Definitely recommmend!
