Fix the pink screen problem

It does things no other streaming device can do once I turn it on, wait for the pink screen, unplug it, count to 20, plug it back in, wait for it to do its thing, then choose a channel. I finally wised up and bought a remote activated power box so I can go through all this nonsense without getting out of my chair.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Our first Roku was the Roku 2 XD. Not long after getting it, we got rid of our satellite TV service. We already pay for an internet connection, and streamed movies and shows look so much better than non-HD satellite.
The Roku 2 seemed to freeze sometimes and needed to be unplugged. The menu was a little sluggish, too. On the Roku 3, it's super smooth to navigate, and it rarely needs a restart.
The RF remote is awesome. Sometimes I forget that I don't need to aim it at the Roku, and then I feel silly when I realize I'm holding it up to point it over the arm of the couch that is in the way of the shelf that the Roku and Bluray player are on. The buttons feel nice and are quiet. They have a good click feel to them without making a really sharp mouse-like button click. There aren't many buttons, so you never need to look at the remote once you've learned it.
You don't need a ton of bandwidth to have a nice stream on channels like Netflix and Hulu because of their smart buffering techniques. They work just fine on a DSL line with 3 Mbps download.
One of my favorite channels to use is Weather Underground.
I was really excited at first that they added casual gaming to the Roku, but there aren't a lot of games available. Most of the games that do exist look cheesy as far as the screenshots show. Almost none of the games are free, so I haven't tried many beyond Angry Birds Space that was included. I'm hesitant to buy one only to have it suck. I wonder if Roku could implement a timed demo / trial period for the developers?
Angry Birds Space is very well made and extremely challenging. The motion remote takes a little while to get used to, but playing a casual game on the Roku is fun if you just want to kill a little time before everyone is ready to watch a movie. I just wish there were a few more really good games--maybe something side-scroll Mario-esque.
For anyone who thinks, "I just have my computer hooked up, and I stream from that," let me say that having a dedicated streaming device with a simple interface, nice remote, and that is always ready will make streaming stuff so much more relaxing and enjoyable. You don't have to think about switching your audio output or navigating webpages from across the room.
As far as things go at our house, it's probably just simpler to say that the Roku is synonymous with television here.

This little power horse is a great value. It is extremely easy to set up and navigate. Never stops playback to re-buffer. I am very pleased.

I have mostly enjoyed using Roku, although I've had problems over the last three years that I've owned mine. The best thing for me has been that technicians with Roku have been accessible to get help when I has having trouble. Today, the technician ran a test and reset everything for me to restore usage. I appreciate it.

This product works, but you might have to make configuration changes to your home router (DNS settings) and buy a GOOD quality HDMI cable and get ready to swap between all of the HDMI ports on your TV until ROKU finds the one it likes. It's a fickle machine at first, but once you get it right it's a pretty good supplement to my satellite TV. I'm not quite ready to unplug yet :-).
