Fast and Flawless

We bought two months ago, after trying three combo DVD/streaming devices from three separate manufacturers. We thought we were being cost conscious, because the combo units cost about the same as the Roku. We thought a "select and wait" delay was natural, that is, waiting for the movie to load, and then hoping it would play all the way through without dropping, requiring all kinds of resets. The Roku loads in a few seconds, and it has not dropped a signal yet. We are more than pleased!

Nice features, not enough content

Nice features, not enough content from FREE service providers. H and H2 nearly useless for content. Other service providers not much better. reality shows are a waste of good programming time and money. Unless one independently subscription to multiple paid service providers, there's not much really available through Roku, other than Pandora (which I love).

I was looking for something for the bedroom as I moved and put the Bluray on the living room tv and had no ability to stream to bedroom anymore.
Only 2 reasons was Netflix and stream from local content. Sadly Roku does not have native local streaming ability ex. Samba shares.
I ended up needed to get a server share app on my desktop and then a matching app/channel on the Roku. Layout is very inconvenient for this but it works.
Netflix is smooth.

In general - a wonderful gadget, however some staff is missing.
It wont play AVI files, I did not find the way to rotate pictures, taken in portrait format.
No support for COMCAST streaming...
Otherwise - I like it.
