"Simply" Awesome!

After having bought several other devices to stream movies and videos, they fell short of my expectations. Other devices have a fraction of the "channels" that Roku offers. On one device I previously purchased there was no Amazon channel for me to watch movies I had purchased. And there wasn't even a way to download that channel. Roku far exceeds the number of channels offered by others by about 5 or 10 times AND stays updated and allows even more channels to be available as they come available. I bought a Sony Blue Ray player that only had about 20 channels offered and no way to add more.. Roku comes with over 300 yet still has a way to download new channels. But the two things I do love? I get a very, extremely simple remote that does EVERYTHING a thousand remotes do with about 50 fewer buttons. AND IT WORKS. With the simple push of about 10 buttons, I can do everything a 100 button remote does. Secondly, just as awesome, I can plug in a headset or earbuds into the remote and watch a late night movie as loud as I want without disturbing all the people in my house that are fast asleep. Try finding that in another streaming device. I LOVE my Roku. If there is ONE complaint by me, it's that they can't stream HBOGo over my comcast internet connection. All to do with 2 companies fighting against each other. But there are still workarounds. I would just like to see these two companies grow up and stop the fighting and reconciling their differences for the sake of consumers.

i like it. lots of channels. very handy. the only thing i didn't like is that it doesn't play youtube videos. this is ridiculous. i am seriously considering getting chromecast because of the lack of this feature. also, please come up with an app to mirror the desktop of a computer on the network. i don't wanna have buyer's remorse. please add features/apps to the roku so it's better than chromecast or apple tv. i don't want to regret my decision to buy the roku. thank you.

I wanted to lose the cable and have a less expensive solution. This has done that for me, and I really don't miss the cable. It's easy to navigate, but be aware that some of the channels can cost you $$$, although, it's usually quite inexpensive. I would have given this a Five Star, except for two small things... Occasionally the signal has a tiny bit of "wiggle" to it (it's small, and I can live with it), and the ear plugs you can plug into the remote control do NOT have a volume control, and I find it a bit too loud, and I'm hard of hearing. Other than that, it's awesome. I'm really glad it exists, and I'm glad I swapped over to it from cable.

I bought this a few weeks ago and sets up easily, menu is quick, not slow and sluggish and easy to use. Very happy.

Bang for the Buck

A great buy. Has lots of options as far as channels go. I love the headphones in the remote feature, comes in very useful at night, although sometimes I'll start laughing a little to hard and wake up my girlfriend anyway. This device is extremely easy to use and setup. I think most people looking into streaming as an alternative to the high costs of satellite and cable will be happy with the Roku. True bang for your buck.

A big let down

I returned the unit a week later. It does not play AVI files and had problems connecting to my wireless network. My 'smart' tv has no issues on the wifi and plays netflix with out any issues. The roku was a foot away from the tv and would buffer and loose connectivity. Not impressed with the Roku at all.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Operational Features of Roku 3 & Available Content

The Roku 3 works well. However the content available on Roku 3 is very limited and the information on the true cost of the content is very misleading. Roku 3 seems to focus the viewer to join pay content vs free content. Also the free content is limited and is mostly of "B" quality. In an addition to Roku 3 the viewer should have the Internet connect to there TV/Monitor so as to facilitate browsing of content not available on Roku 3. There are many sites on the Internet that I would have thought would have been included on Roku 3. After all it is free on the Internet.

I returned it ! couldn't find any good channels. Any thing that was good you had to pay for it .
