Fantastic alternative to cable TV

We first started with Roku a few years ago after finally getting fed up with cable TV prices. We now have two, one for each TV, a 2 and a 3, and they are both awesome. Have been strictly Roku users for almost four years now and have no plans of ever going back! The customer service is great as well.

Working out better than my satellite box

I had to switch to a Roku player because it is much cheaper than paying for satellite. The only thing that I don't like is that some of the channels/apps charge a lot to download shows and movies.

Enjoying Roku everyday. It brings Netflix to the TV from my IPad along with the capibility to see programs that I have missed. Good purchase.

I bought the Roku 3 a month ago and couldn't be happier. There's something for everyone. This is by far the best on the market imo.

Sweating the small stuff

We have owned a "smart" TV for several years now with mixed results. We did have internet access and a fairly broad representation of internet streaming but the system was both user-unfriendly and often buggy. Content was slow to update and I doubt that the firmware was ever updated. As a result, the "smart" aspect just wasn't. Enter Roku 3. Although it seemed redundant, I decided to try the Roku unit to see if anything might improve with its hardware/software solution. It has been a revelation. With identical proximity to my WiFi source, the Roku accesses my steaming sites in moments and starts my streaming seemingly instantaneously. Plus, the navigation and user interface is nothing short of brilliant. Instead of the maze of remote buttons, the Roku remote is a model of simplicity and its use is satisfyingly intuitive. I highly recommend this device. I only wish I had invested in it years ago.

Hangs abruptly

I bought Roku 3 one months back, and I have experienced that it hangs up abruptly, and needs to be forcefully restarted. It supports only a couple of video formats, so one cannot play avi or other formats. But it is faster than the previous versions of Roku.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Shut off my Dish Network and switched to Roku 3. I stream Netflix, Hulu Plus, and PBS most frequently. We absolutely love it! The speed is incredible and the variety of shows you can watch even without paid streaming services is unbelievable. I will never go back to dish again!
